Help improve 60ft

Hi guys. This is my first time running at the strip in a high powered rwd m6 car. I had a good mph but I think I'm leaving a lot at the start of the run. Can you guys give me any pointers?

Car is bone stock
Rear tires were dropped to 25 psi
Launches were at around 2k (anything higher just spun n lower bogged)

Seat time. Get a remote clutch fluid reservoir for your car and keep fresh fluid in the system. Your going to have to play around with the clutch and rpm until you find what works for you. Its more about feel more than anything since tracks vary on prep and hooking ability.

A good starting point is to find out which track in your area has the best starting line traction. Some track officials take great pride in having the best track prep around, others just blow the dirt off and bring the cars out. It makes a big difference.

Thanks for the info BO WHITE. that might explain why on the next pass the clutch pedal didn't come all the way back out so I had to abort the run. I will look into getting one.

Def look into the separate clutch fluid reservoir, JDP has them.
Also Lingenfelter sells a clutch pedal return spring that is supposed to be pretty sweet.

I wouldnt worry about the return spring. Its a bandaid for a problem lurking somewere else, the pressure plate and/or dirty fluid. Keep your fluid clean and flushed and if you still have a pedal that wants to hang up just go ahead and start shopping for a good clutch.

2.52 is terribly slow. I have had cars that run high 16's get a 60' in the 2.4 range. You are spinning like crazy most likely. If you ease the car out and slip the clutch a little before squeezing the throttle to the floor, your 60' time will be much better. 2.0-2.1 is possible on street tires so practice.

I will definitely try easing out and then squeeze the pedal. It was spinning like crazy. I also noticed that my wifes G5x had 2.4 60' times granted it was awd and automatic.

Does anyone know if the 1LE has the no lift shift feature like the ZL1?

If you are on stock tires, I would try to get the 60 down to no worse than 2.1. Sure if you can click off a high 1.9 that's great I just don't know what the stock tires can do on your car. Did you look at the lists to see what others have done?

Not to rub it in but I went 1.95 all stock in my slushbox.

Wowzers 1.9. I am on stick good year super cars. They did awesome at Putnam on the road course. Next time out ill shoot for a 2.1. I think I need to get the clutch out faster. I was reading clutch should be fully out before you pass the tree... I'll post next weekend if weather permits.

on my stock tires i would launch at around 1500/2000 range and just pop the clutch and lob the car out and it would like nose over a little and lay into it. lobbing the car always did good for me on the stock tires. i was pulling 1.8x pretty consistant. but i had a good track too thats the main thing. but try diff things if u keep doing the same thing over and over u will never find a way that works. just keep at it and get someone at the track to kinda help ya figure it out that knows what to look for and listen for.

Drive around the water box and haze those tires off a little. With that 60 ft I wouldn't be surprised if your tires were wet or that is one slick track.

@Dekan, Yea it was pretty slick, i tried launch control which didn't turn out well, i tried leaving at 2k and even other camaro's who had run low 13s on other tracks were saying they couldn't hook. I will try just popping the clutch at 1.5/2k to see what that nets. I think i am going out again this friday - I will post results. Now that they have had a few events it should be some good rubber down now.

@ vader when you say haze them do you mean just spin them on the ground in fron of the water box?
