Price gouging on 2010 Camaro already beginning!
Some GM dealers have already begun auctioning the right to purchase the first 2009 Chevrolet Camaros on eBay. Currently, 'Buy It Now' prices sit between $20,000 and $25,000 (the amount the customer agrees to pay on top of the car's MSRP!!).
Back in May, some dealers began taking $1,000 deposits for the new Camaro. But, GM pressured the dealers to remove ads for down-payments, because production for the car had not yet been approved. However, following yesterday's official announcement that GM will build the Camaro, it seems the dealers are right back at it again. |

This will be just like when Ford changed the Mustang a year or two ago. When the GT's came out, dealers were doing that, 6 months later they were easier to find and at sticker.
The goobers at these dealerships charging $20K over sticker are in for a shock, b/c no body will pay that initially unless the car is a limited production, ala the Shelby GT 500. A regular 6cyl, or 8 cyl Camaro will not sell that high above MSRP for very long if at all. |

IMO, dealers doing this shouldn't get any of our business!
Thats why I plan on waiting out the initial "hype", and I'll gladly pay STICKER for my 5th Gen.! |

At the local FORD dealer, the dealer is charging $25K, over sticker for the Shelby Mustang!
My sister was on the list for the 2nd one allocated to them, but when she heard that, she hung up on them. I did see the 1st one delivered and the goof who payed the mark-up. |

Just got back from my local Chevy Dealer. Put my name on the list. He stated not much info on the Camaro yet but he will keep me in the loop. He also stated he can't believe that there is price gouging already. He stated, "That’s the stupidest thing a dealer can do, customers for life, not a one time deal"...

I would say most likely because of how small the town is, but not able to confirm it.

eBay Find of the Day: 2009 Camaro
Posted Aug 11th 2006 11:08AM by Damon Lavrinc Filed under: Detroit Auto Show, Sports/GTs, Auction Action, Chevrolet You might recall some reports earlier this year of dealers accepting down payments on the new Camaro after the concept debuted. Those dealers were "asked" by GM to remove such a program and return any money that had been received. The reason stated at the time was that the Camaro hadn't been given the green light as of yet, hence it was irresponsible to sell a car that might not even be produced. Well, now that the prospect of the General not building the Camaro has been debunked, it's open season and the first to take advantage is Lyons, Illinois car dealer Jack Phelan. The enterprising salesman has posted an auction on eBay to allow pre-purchase of the first Camaro to arrive at his dealership. However, since a retail price has yet to be announced, the bidding isn't for the cost of the car per se, but the markup of the MSRP. Starting bid is at $5,000 with a "Buy It Now" price of $20-large. Irresponsible profiteering or the free market at work? You decided in comments. |

I put my money down 1 month ago, $1000.00 deposit, call me stupid, but they are selling theirs for 2,500 over MSRP. Stated on my receipt. Im #2 on the list at Superior Chevrolet in Kansas City. Call me crazy, but I want this car and 2,500 will not keep me from being the first in my small town, to bring it home, and whip up my neighbors who bought the Charger, and my friend who is ordering the Challenger, Bowtie power will rule my town once again.
