Steering Wheel Bowtie Blackout Decal?

Anyone using something like this ebay item to blackout the gold bowtie on a 2013+ steering wheel? I like the idea of a vinyl decal, but the bowtie surface isn't flat, so I'm curious if this will stick for more than 10 minutes. Or is a Sharpie the best option?!

Or is there a way to remove the gold inlay to create a flat surface for a decal to adhere to? My car is mostly blacked out and the gold just does not fit my vibe.

I have that exact one on my steering wheel and it fit fine. The gold was tacky. I’m considering a whole new detachable steering wheel in the near future.

I used plastidip, same as my front bowtie, just taped it off well.

Yup, I also bought a vinyl decal and used a blow dryer to heat it to the surface and the rough surface actually grab the decal nicely.

I used vinyl and my heat gun, then an exacto knife to trim it out.
