Very nice!! And yea you get rid of all the afm crap and put quality valve train components in you have a bullet proof setup. Awesome...

I would’ve guessed a .629 as that’s his go to cam. He also installed mine, I have the LS3 though.

I was just thinking about getting the GPI SS1 CAM. Any issues or complaints with it? Also, it came with a "kit" on the website, would that be all I need to install it or would I have to modify anything else? Thanks!

I have CAI, Flowmaster exhaust w/CAT delete, 1 7/8 shorty headers, 3:91 gears, manuel transmission.

If I could do mine over I would go with the SS2 and because I have a lot of jurking in gear that I particularly don't like and if it's gonna do this I would have rather had a bigger cam with more power. But since you are manual you don't have to worry about that. He'll I'd even think about a SS3. And the kit is pretty complete except
probably want to do an oil pump and a rocker trunnion upgrade as well.

you need long tubes too. shorty headers are gonna really hold you back with a cam

I dont have experience with auto, but the smallest cam shouldnt buck like that...who tuned it? Maybe the tune can be touched up

At first Ryan at GPI tuned it and it bucked and than I had a dyno tune at Exodus here in Austin. The tuner there said he can't tune it out because it's tugging on the stock converter. He told me I basically needed a better torque converter.

Yeah it's really not bucking in the sense like a manual would, but more like rocking and bouncing with the lope (At least from my experience). It is most evident at traffic lights, since the stock convertor isn't really suited for this cam. It's definitely not subtle. Basically, every single lope makes the car/trans want to move or lurch forward.

I know GPI advertises their LS3 SS1 and VVT SS1 as stock convertor friendly cams, but they really are not. I am used to it and actually love how it shakes, especially since it is so damned lopey. But I know it needs a convertor bad.
