Safe PSI on L99 with TVS2300

What is considered a safe PSI level for a L99 with no other mods except for the TVS2300 and maybe a roto fab CAI?

I would like to get to 500rwhp and figure I would need to run at least 7psi or
8psi to get to 500rwhp.

From what I understand the recommended and standard set-up with the TVS2300 is 6psi but I do not think I would get to 500rwhp on the L99 at 6psi and wanted to know if i am asking for trouble if I have to run 8psi to achieve the 500rwhp.

Also this is a daily driver in the city and was wondereing how street friendly the car would ride at 8psi

Any insight you guys could give regarding these qustions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The nice thing about the TVS2300 is you will never know its on the car untill you punch it. So as far as street driveabilty, it will remain the same. IMO You should be fine with the 3.6 pulley (3.8 comes with the kit) and it should put you over the 500hp marker and you will be in the 7-8lbs area. I have not heard of anybody with any problems running 8lbs max.

Enlighten me a bit, why the need to change the pulley from what comes standard with the kit? What is the cost to upgrade the pulley? Is that an option you can ask for when you order the kit?

Thanks for the insight.

Weird! I am getting this exact setup done in May! Though I may not reach 500whp as we only get 91 octane in Kali... My guy says it will be 480+ at 8psi, plus I don't wanna have to run it at the ragged edge of the tune just to get to 500...

Hey Barton, how are the pulleys marked to identify them? Are they stamped with the 3.6 or whatever on them? Just wanna be able to verify it was installed and am able run up to 8psi...

The pulley is what increases the boost. The smaller you go the more boost you make. The stock pulley is a 3.8 and then they go down from there. 3.6, 3.4 etc.. The pulley's are about $100. A lot of tuners will have the pulleys at thier facility and will change the pulley to get you to the #'s you want to be at. I highly recomend getting it Dyno tuned. The Maggie tune leaves alot of hp on the table.

Yes, The pulley size is engraved right on the front of the pulley.
I would highly recomend Headers and a CAI (if you can) to allow for better air flow.

Keep in mind. I AM NOT A TUNNER. Just a very happy Maggie customer.

Correct, a dyno tune will really bring the power out of the stock tune that comes with the blower.

WIth the stock tune from Magnuson I am only pulling 415 hp and 402 tq. the only addition at this point is a Magna flow axle back exhaust. It is hard for me to believe that you can get that much more HP from a tune. Can you explain the difference or why the tune is soooooo conservative anybody??

I'm at 10.5 psi on my l99 with the stock internals and it's fine. You'll be ok at 8 psi. Don't worry.

You'll get an easy 20 RWHP with CAI; I'd consider that too Also, know that different dynos' will give different numbers. What tranny do you have? What dyno' was it on? What was the baseline? It seems like most people are getting almost 500 RWHP on a stock LS3 and something like 20-40 RWHP less for L99 cars.

As far as for why so conservative, I'm no employee, nor will I speak for anyone, but I'm sure those canned tunes are there to run safely on our sh*tty Cali' 91 gas. In many other places, one can get 93 at the pump, but not our glorious state. Having said that, they also offer an extra cost warranty so that tune will make sure you're going to have years of trouble-free tire-burning. I'm sure you can get more aggressive fuel and spark tables with a good dyno' tuner and eek even more power out of that car.

JMHO.
