Will the 3.91's really affect cruising and interstate driving that much? Planning on getting them done soon but my driving sounds similar to yours. Now you have me curious.

From what I was told by my builder, and what I have read on here about a 200-300 rpm difference at the same cruising speed. Plus it will have a tendacy to make the trans run a little hotter due to the higher revs, but if you have a good trans cooler, you will be fine. I just didn't want to do it so I can keep my good interstate mpg, 23 mpg, the converter I run is all I need to get this baby going.. lol.

We have 6 speeds. A 391 rear is perfect. I can cruise at 80 and revs arent very high at all

At 70 mph your about 2000rpm. Not much more over the stock gears but enough to notice. Your tuner is wrong about the trans running hotter with gears. I have a 3200 Circle D single disc stall and it runs around 170 all day long. Ive hsd it 3 years now. With the cam its still the same.

That’s insane but from what I heard converter plus a trans tune makes a huge difference in our cars. I must say just the trans tune made a huge difference, my car jumps forward when it shifts.

Yep, when mine was just LT's, CAI, X-pipe and tune it would "bark" the tires when it shifted from 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, now that she is cammed and stalled it flashes up to 5000 and never drops down below that at WOT while it's shifting until I let off of it!! And she just flies off into the distance leaving the world, and whom ever behind. Nice and smooth too. lol
