My TSP LQ9 408 Stoker Build

Hey there, i posted up a couple months back talking about how my camshaft chewed up a piece of my roller lifter and then to pixie dust to the bottom of my oil pan. It took a minute for my shop to diagnose that problem. They pulled my engine and discovered what happened. I had a couple of options that i could've went with but I thought this was my second best option. It wasn't the cheapest but my car was at 700whp and figured I was on that fine line with a stock lower end. I didn't have intentions of forging my motor this season but life has an amazing way of reminding you how it goes sometimes. Unfortunately this happened at the busiest time of the year for a tuner, spring.

My first option was just to replace the broken parts but found out the whole motor had to be gone through because of all the fine pieces of metal. He would've sent my block and heads to another shop to be checked for issues that weren't seen. Since the motor, regardless was in pieces, if I was going to forge it, now's the time. For my shop to go through and forge the internals, not including the crank was expensive. On top of taking a really long time. In michigan there's a small window of driving time with events and shows and that window was closing on me. I searched for forged motors and came across Texas Speed and Performance. They had one in stock that is a 408 stroker with a cast iron block that was fully forged including the crank. This was a cheaper option for me with more potential I thought, so it was a no brainer. I guess the only downsides of this would be not a matching motor and depending on how you look at it, a cast iron block that weighs about 100 pounds more then a aluminum block. But there's pros and cons to that. I thought about both of those and decided, it doesn't matter to me. I have so much money in my car and its so modified that I don't see myself selling it. So once i decided that, I ordered the block. I was lucky that they had one in stock or that would've just pushed things farther back.

If I had more money, I would've went with their 416 stroked aluminum block but that was almost $2000 more, but they didnt have that in stock regardless.
Since my heads needed to be gone through, checked and cleaned. I decided just to upgrade and save some time and get a better product with some Trick Flow Heads.
I also upgraded to Innovators west 10% dampener and I'm going from a 6 rib to 8 rib to get all I can out of this blower.

So those were my options or I guess I could've sold it, Lol, yeah right. Its getting close and I figure that in less then 2 weeks, I will have my car back. Its been in the shop for two months, waiting on decisions and parts but now all those are answered. This thing is going to be bad to the bone! Its essentially a new motor plus its bigger, can never go wrong with that. I also went with TSP cam and cant wait to hear how it sounds.

This is their engine room and in here he has the block, heads, cam plus some other pieces together. Pushrods coming soon along with the damper.

Here's the damage this bad boy made.
Pictures in order,
1-Motor fresh out of the car after my roller lifter broke, don't mind the car in the background.
2-Passnegers side with heads removed
3-The roller lifter that broke, definitely not supposed to look like that, lol.
4-This is the front passenger side, right above the 10 o'clock mark a small dash, thats where my lifter and heads kissed

Thank you, I like it too! I've watched videos of cars with this motor and it's pretty impressive some of the numbers I've seen.

I'll definitely show a video

With the failure set up, what kind of lifters / springs were you running?

How aggressive was the cam?

They were stock lifters and springs. It was a mild comp cam. I don't recall the numbers, I have them somewhere.
