AFM delete / disable?
Curious if anyone has a AFM delete/disable chip in their car and which one also? Just purchased my 2010 Camaro 2ss Automatic a few weeks ago and read up a little on Disabling the AFM to run V8 full time. Any info or pointers would be much appreciated, thanks!

I think the most common ways to do it are by a local tuner or someone like Jannetty Racing or RDP/DynoSteve will sell you a handheld tuner with a custom tune to turn it off.

I was thinking about buying the Diablo S1000 or maybe spending more for a programmable tuner which will also disable but give me more options. just hoping to hear from someone who maybe has one before I buy anything.

Love Steve’a tune. I didn’t even do anything to my car. The transmission tune and DoD tune is worth it alone.

I use my Range device to turn off DoD and They are about $100 used. Check the classified section. Once you get your tune, you can sell it back to someone for about $100... I'll be getting my tune in the spring and will be selling my Range device.

It’s not difficult or complex to turn off AMF / DOD but if going that route a TCM tune might be in order. This you would miss using a generic device.

Steve @ RDP is your best bang for the buck. With the SCTX4 handheld tuner, not only will you be able to disable AFM, you will also be able to tune the transmission. Also if you plan on future mods, tunes from him with the SCTX4 are free for life on your Camaro.
I drove my 2012 2SS L99 stock for about 6 months, then decided to put an axle back on for better sound, the horrid AFM ruined the sound, so I ordered the SCTX4 from Steve. With AFM off, the car now sounded better and the tranny tune made it drive so much better. Then I added long tube headers and a cold air intake, and great tune from Steve. Then I took the car to the drag strip. Added a Circle D torque converter and drag radials. Steve got it tuned great. Then came nitrous, again Steve got it done. Most recently a 3.91 gear, yet again Steve came through with the tune. No additional cost for any of these additional tunes. Look at all the positive feedback he has received...... 326 out of 330 positive. You cannot please everyone, as a few people cannot be pleased no matter what you do. He also has 923 friends on this forum. You don't get results like that by doing a bad job. The most impressive thing about Steve is his "No Bull" customer service. If you are interested in a particular mod but aren't sure if it's right for you, he wont try to sell you something just for the sake of making a sale. He will tell you "That's a waste of money mate." Steve would rather not make a sale then sell you something you don't need, or that wont achieve your desired goal. This is VERY rare in today's world. Also on the additional mods, I checked around for pricing and Steve always beat the competitor's pricing. Even if you do go with someone else for a mod, if you have the SCTX4 from RDP, he will still send you the proper tune at no cost. Unbeatable.

I'm an old school gearhead. New to the electronic tuning. Question: My 2010 2SS L99 feels like the brakes apply while shifting at light throttle. It has a Texas speed VVT3 cam, 3200 converter, AFM delete, full length ss headers and exhaust. I bought the car as is, and I feel the shifting is not as it should be. Can anyone give me advice please?
Thanks, mcbuff52 |

There isn’t enough information to advise, suggest you run a log on the car and have a tuner check it.
