Can you post a pic of the rust?
I take a picture later, but it seems to have migrated up from the joint with the rear bumper cover. I've always had slight alignment issues--it must get bumped a lot in parking lots or something--and I think it wore a hole through the paint and moisture crept up. I had a decent sized bubble for a while, which was intact so I wasn't worried about it, but it looks like it finally gave up and popped, so now I have to get it fixed.

No rain, no salt = no rust. No worries.

Miles and engines

No offense but how can a 2013 or 2014 Camaro have a LS3 (other than a replacement)? I thought those years all had L99.

Purchased August 2019 w/ 11,400 miles in Kansas City, MO
2014 2SS
L99/A6
no mods
no repairs needed, only scheduled maintenance(only two rears tires)
19,667 miles

LS3s have been with the 5th gen since the beginning. LS3s could only be ordered with a manual transmission during the time.

Yea that is probably what happened. To start rust you need moisture and exposed metal. Salt just makes things worse.

To properly erradicate the rust, the metal has to be cut free from the rust, and weld metal filler into its place. Once its fixed you have to make sure the area won't get wet. Most people don't fix rust because its difficult, expensive, and its likely that they will have rust issues all over or other issues. Its ashame to see it on a Camaro though.

I read that beach sand makes all those issues 10X worse.
