Recheck all your grounds — especially the ones from the passenger head to the body and the grounds on the passenger head by the exhaust...

Checked wiring, connections and grounds at least half a dozen times now. Installed a new battery and car still won't start. Cranking is erratic and not on a cadence like I'm used to hearing. We're going to take the timing cover off Saturday and make sure something didn't happen with the timing chain and make sure we're still dot to dot at tdc. Beyond that, I don't know what else to check. Log shows commanded afr while cranking is 3.5 and injector pulse width around 25. Not sure what could be causing that.

Did you pull the heads? If so, there are grounds on the back of the heads. You'll want to be sure of those...

Did you check the shrader valve on fuel line for pressure?

Yes, heads were pulled to install new lifters. Those grounds have been checked as well.

Well obviously that's not in the tune, so all I can think of is sensor failure or open circuit on a sensor?

May have to pull out a multi-meter and test every relevant sensor.

Is there a write-up somewhere on how to do that?

Turns out it's hurt alot worse than I thought. Did a compression test and 5 cylinders had 0 compression. 2 had 180 and 1 had 150. Gotta pull the heads again and replace the bent valves. While I'm at it, I'm just going to delete vvt and go with an LS-3 cam. In the log we took while driving, there was a downshift from 6-4 under light acceleration accompanied by a commanded timing advance of 33 degrees. Best we can tell is the timing advanced too far which resulted in pistons contacting valves. Don't know why that would have happened because we installed the phaser limiter and followed the directions to the letter. I don't want this to happen again, so I'm just going to delete vvt and be done with it.

Did you put in the new cam phaser tables in the tune for that cam?

Ryan at GPI sent me the tune, so I'm sure he did. It's their cam.

Damn, this sucks. I would really have Ryan take another look at that tune. Mistakes can be made.

Found the problem. When I installed the phaser sprocket on the cam, I didn't get it fully seated on the cam dowel. There is a deep groove all around the back of the phaser from where the dowel dug into it. Also ground the dowel about half way off. All 8 intake valves are bent. Expensive mistake for sure. Since I would need a new cam and phaser anyway, I'm just going to do the vvt delete and go with a TSP 225/236 LS3 cam.
