engine oil temp normal range L99?

Just brought home my new camaro yesterday and am a bit concerned with the engine oil temp running 220-230 while the engine coolant temp is running around 190-195. Should i be worried about this? Or is this normal? Can't find anything in owners manual about what normal is. Any information welcome.

The oil will run hotter than the coolant. If your ever really pushing it hard on a track, time to take some cool down laps at 280ish. Sythentic can handle 300ish, but better if you avoid getting that hot. Hard driving on the street, not uncommon tos see 240/250ish in a real hot climate.

I sure appreciate the comments. that puts my mind at ease. Its a lot more comforting to hear it from someone that has one than a dealer saying I don't know, but I bet its okay.

I was worried to since my .L99 was running 220 - 250. My water temp is running higher than I like 213 and will be dropping a 190 thermostat. I think my temp might be running higher since I have a Magnacharger attached to the engine.

I wouldn't mess with your thermostat. I'd make sure the tuning is correct and possibly within the tuning, turn the fans on sooner. But still at those temps not really a problem. The supercharger adds heat, and your still well within what synthetic oil can handle. If it's already been tuned spot on, then don't worry about it.

A 190 thermo won't change the upper operating temp. Tinkering with the fan settings may. Maybe some Water Wetter also.

New 160F thermostat, oil temp rises up to 250F when hard driving on the streets. Main radiator was cleaned (external/internal) , cooling system was cleaned with additive. In this case oil pressure drops to 15 - 16 psi. Considering that I use an additive Lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer. Oil 5w30 Amsoil Signature Series

Not sure why you added this to a 13 year old thread but what rpm are you see that low pressure? Is that at idle?

Yes at idle only. I don’t understand why the oil overheats when actively driving around the city, where does this come from?
When oil temp is 230-240 pressure gauge show 20-25 psi.

I am sure that this is due to the Lucas additive or the Oil Filter Bypass Valve that I replaced along with the oil last time.

Before this, the oil pressure was 14-15 PSI at 230-250F. I removed the crankcase and checked the play of the crankshaft bearings with my hands, but found nothing.

GM gauges are horribly inaccurate. You need to confirm your oil temp by another means.... to check to see what your oil temp really is.
