That’s hard to look at. Lucky the lady stuck around, and turned out to be a good person. Probably takes a small bit of the “feels” out of the situation versus a hit/run. Hoping the repair is as good as new!

Damn David...that stinks! I'm sure the damage can be easily repaired, like others have said, but will you still feel the same about the car? I certainly don't about mine. Hopefully you can get it fixed and back in your hands quickly.

That's too bad.

As someone who is in the industry I just want to let you know you have nothing to worry about when it comes to the paint color. With modern paints it'll be a breeze to match. What they'll likely do is replace the fender and blend the paint into the door and hood. You'll never be able to tell. That paint will be even better quality than the OEM paint. Go to a place that offers a lifetime warranty just in case. Good luck.

Keep your eye on all repairs. Fender damage should be a quick fix but I'm finishing up my ''repair process'' now and what I am learning is to monitor each phase of the repair.

How does someone, manage to hit a parked car in a lot? Was she on her dang phone, texting her BFF or?

Look around at other cars next time you're on the road. This is super common. People misjudge the size of their vehicle all the time and figure they can make it only to scrape someone else's car while they're parking. If you see damage to a fender or 1/4 panel, then they got hit. If you see damage to the edge of the bumpers, they're the one that did the hitting.

Yeah, it kinda makes us sick to look at or think about. I am very thankful it was good people that did it, owned it, and sucked up their pride to stick around and do what's right. There are fewer and fewer people like that it seems.

Yeah....the damage is very minimal really, but I'm scared to death about the paint being done right. If it is, I think I'll feel just fine about the car. I'm also worried about the car's history decreasing it's value if I ever decide or need to sell. I'm definitely keeping all the pics I have so if that day ever comes, I have proof of how minor the damage is. So as long as the paint looks good enough that you can't tell it was ever damaged, I should be good. I'm still debating on running it at Bowling Green next Saturday if the weather is good for a possible 10 second pass. I don't like driving around in a nice car that's damaged, but I also don't want to miss a good opportunity to set a new personal best that could potentially end up being that elusive bone stock 10 second pass. I would feel free to start making small mods that don't void my warranty if I could make that happen. Honestly though, I'd likely only get a set of wheels and drag radials that I could swap out, and just run it with a tire only for a while.

Thanks for more positive words, even though blending the paint is exactly what I'd like to be able to avoid, but I know it might be impossible to do. Hence, why I'm scared of this paint deal. The bumper cover will also need to be painted, so if everything must be blended to match, I'm looking at nearly the entire front end being painted.

Sorry to hear you've had to go through all of this.

I wish I knew. Too many people just don't pay attention to what they're doing and it seems to just keep getting worse. It pisses me off everytime I see someone all over the road for any reason. Driving distracted or under the influence. There's no place for that kind of nonsense. Sadly, too many innocent people lose all or a part of their lives due to the stupid negligence of others. They're totally disrespecting everyone else on the road.

Very good analogy and probably true most of the time.

Pick a quality body shop, you won't notice it. As Eric SS said, they can match very well these days. Had a gouge fixed on the back of my 2013, had it done at a shop that does daily drivers but also restores cars. I spent 15 minutes trying to see where that gouge was, had my uncle who was a body man all his life try and find it, he couldn't find it. A good body shop will take care of it. Insist on a new GM fender.

There will definitely be a new GM fender going on. No doubt about it.
