Tire Pressures

Wonderful PDI the dealer did on my car... Tire pressures are all over the place.

Anybody got any recommendations outside of using the factory recommended number? 99% street driven. Non 1LE car.

Not sure I follow. Why wouldn't you want to go with the factory recommended number for daily driver (on the driver door panel)?

Every high performance car I have ever owned, most people run slightly different tire pressures than what the factory recommends.

In the Z06 I just got rid of recommended pressure was 31, but almost everybody ran 33.

I like 30 cold all around, unless I'm going for extended duration of time at higher speeds I go with factory recommended 32psi cold. I'm far from an expert, but I can't imagine 2-4psi higher or lower than factory recommendation would have any real impact in normal driving conditions from the standpoint of safety or wear. I do feel like slightly lower pressure may allow me to hook up a little better, but the couple pounds of pressure probably doesn't make a measurable difference.

When I picked mine up it rode like a lumber truck, got to a gas station and checked them, they had them filled up to the max inflation pressure listed on the tire, not the recommended pressure on the sticker in the door jamb

Haha, so was mine. Mine go up down between 31-34 now.

I just checked tonight and my fronts are 35. Rears are 32. Gonna get them 32 all around tomorrow.

I have posted this before, but about 9 years ago I was working for BMW as a regional rep and I had a Continental tire engineer come travel with me to give mini seminars in the dealerships as we went around, his comment was that the best tire pressure was 1 to 2 pounds above what it said on the door sill for best life. Approximately 15% better life than the Sill pressure, no perceptible ride diff. That goes for not just his tires, but all tires. So I do that to this day.

I typically always fill my tires 1-2 psi above the recommended, haven't seen a difference in ride and get alot of miles out of my tires.
