Fuel Slosh

I'm not exactly sure this is a "problem" but when I have the radio off and the windows up, I can hear the fuel sloshing around in the tank. It's only at low speeds but you cannot mistake the sound for anything else - and it's kinda loud. I thought that GM had baffles in their gas tanks? Has anyone else noticed this?

I have a very early 2011 LS (number 834)

Hey guys,

I got a 2010 camaro 2LT RS.

I have the exact same problem. To me, it basically happens when im driving it a really really low speed and I step on the brake and the car comes to a stop. I hear a noise on the left side of my car. So, I took it to the dealer and they basically diagnosed it for a couple of hours, and came up with a solution that it's not fixable. It just fuel sloshing around in there when there's a certain amount of fuel in the car usually from 1/4 tank to 3/4 tank. So, anyhow shitty problem but what could we do. Just a heads up to all my camaro buddies out there.

Yea I was afraid that the dealer would say that. The fix is to have a baffle system in the damn fuel tank. If there is one in there it doesn't work. My guess is that some engineer tested the car with either a full tank or almost no gas and decided that it passed the tolerance test. The other scenario is that it was a cost cutting measure during the design phase. Either way, it sucks to hear that sound when I'm pulling into the garage.

Thanks for the responses. I'm glad to know it's not just me.

We never hear it but we have the rubber GM trunk mat that also deadens road noise.

I know I'll come across like a jerk.....but I can't help it:

Seriously??

I've heard it on most every car I've ever owned or driven for an extended period of time.

Not an issue......really. I can't believe they actually wasted 2 hours "diagnosing" the problem.

I agree this seems to be an acceptable annoyance. Kind of like hearing the wind with your window down.

My reason for asking about it is more from the standpoint of, "Is there something actually wrong?"

Given all the issues I've seen here on the forum, I think it's a legit question to ask.

Yea, that's my experience with my Gen1 Camaro, Gen3 Camaro, 73 Vette and 77 T/A. I've never heard any of these cars make a sound.

Again, I was just makin sure because of the insane number of issues I've read about here. I thought maybe someone put the damn thing in backwards or something. lol.

Actually, I lost a lot of my high frequency hearing over my 20 years on the flight line in the A.F.

Atleast they diagnosed it most will claim not to hear anything
