Forget power shifting...forget quick shifting...don't count on getting into 3rd cleanly (you'll miss it as often as you hit it)...get used to that grinding feel...learn to live with the strange clutch behavior...I actually missed 2nd today...2nd!!!!!

It's such a gr8 car but I sure know what the weak link is.
the aisin ay6 acts in a similar way!..can't believe it!..2nd to 3rd can be "nasty!"
i hope at some point they put out a service bulletin on this!..(hot damn!)
i read the tranny's made in "japan"..it's ironic, because aisin makes the tranny for the mazda mx-5!..one of the best roadsters ever made, and the trans is super slick!..one of the best trannys ever produced too!

ok!..so that being said,is the "general" aware of what's going on?..if so,.anybody heard of them offering a solution?..appears a lot of problems with BOTH the tremec,..AND the aisin!..?????

Its all in the factory shifter its pretty much null and void at best! And being that its a remote style shifter doesnt help any.

Feels just as smooth to me as the 4 or 5 other types of cars I have had with a stick. Only downside is the nob is so big but you can get a new nob or get use to it like I did.

Er...yes, and like a woman, it helps to warm her up a little before getting on her--you know the lube flows better when HOT!

I've driven other cars with the Tremec, and this setup is not as smooth as others. The current Camaro setup needs to change or use a different transmission. Because this one is just not as smooth as others.

This is my first manual so I do not know any different, but the car seems easy to shift to me

couple of folks here have said replacing the trany fluid with either RP or Mobile 1 have noticed a slight change in the feel. I plan on changing the trany and rear diff soon.

I do agree though, I have missed second on a few occasions.

I've got an MGW and have never shifted a car faster in my life. I rarely miss any gears and if I do it's my fault. I don't understand everyone's contention.

Do you power shift? Have any suggestions for ways to improve my car's shifting performance or is it all operator error? As I said, I was racing my 1969 Plymouth Road Runner at Whitehouse in Tyler back in the early '70s and never had any problem at all power shifting and/or simply shifting quickly and I don't recall ever missing a gear...especially 2nd.

I have the Barton shifter in mine and there is a night and day difference from the stock shifter. It is so much tighter and gives quick, positive shifts. Best $200 I have spent on the car.
