Pulling a U-Haul with Camaro?

I am having to move from Arizona to Florida this summer since I'll be going Active Duty in the Air Force. Here's my situation.. right now I just own my '95 wrangler, and its a 4 cyl soft top. Don't know if anybody has ever ridden in one on the highway, but it is ridiculously loud and quite slow.. if there is a slight incline uphill I won't be able to sustain 65mph.

So I have been considering buying a new vehicle.. common sense says buy a truck for the move. I don't have a lot of stuff, with a truck I could fit it all in the back seat/bed and get a cover for the bed to keep the water out. However, if I am going to buy a new vehicle.. i don't really want a truck.. I want my Camaro.

So if I were to buy a Camaro (most likely the SS) would a small U Haul trailer be suitable to tow behind it? I know the Camaro can pull the thing, but my concern is the wind going across Texas and the fact that there isn't much weight in the back of the thing.

Has anyone had any experience with this, or any recommendations?

Thanks!

From the owner's manual...

Weight of the Trailer

How heavy can a trailer safely be?

It should never weigh more than
1,000 lbs (454 kg). But even
that can be too heavy.
Good luck finding a trailer that light that will safely haul your stuff.

If you have that little to take you could get a small low profile trailer, you'll be fine. I pull a 3 person jet ski behind mine

On the other hand it sounds like your plan is to sell the wrangler and buy a car when you move? Is this correct?

If so you are probably better of renting a small SUV for the move and buying a car when you get to FL. Driving form Arizona to Florida is what 2k miles? maybe more? That's hit the value of your car by several hundred $$$ so might as well just do it on a one way rental.

That's why our Jails are FULL. There has to be a law against this.

I would rent a Uhaul truck with a dolly to tow your jeep. In the long run its cheaper than buying a truck, no taxes, registration.

This sounds like a better idea then traveling cross country in a new car. If renting is out of question, I would tough it out with the Jeep all the way to Florida and buy ur camaro there. Save the miles and the wear and tear on the camaro. Besides, what if something went wrong? Might void ur warranty and then you would b stuck with a new car payment but no new car.

Buy your Camaro here in FL unless your going to keep you AZ address as your perm residence. Otherwise your gonna have to pay sales tax in FL on the car when you go to change plates if you move within 6 months of buying it. Sell the Jeep and rent a suv to tow the trailer. Buy new car once down here.

I have a hitch and I pull a motocycle trailor. No more motorcycles but the trailor comes in handy. Just don't go over the reommende weight and you will be fine. Give yourself plenty of time to stop though
