2014 2LT needs a new rack
Quite disappointing to all of a sudden hear my power steering pump start whining like a Ford only to see a bunch of crap right at the input shaft on the rack. Has anyone else had this issue?

Makes me wonder if we should be flushing the fluid out of the power steering rack as a regular preventive maintenance procedure.

I can’t really say until I pull out mine and see why it really failed. Rather frustrating on a 4 year old car!

Yes and yes. However you would think GM would still use quality parts that would stand up to that kind of use. Everything here in Maine are highway miles

It's not that insane, 25k/year is common among sales folks or others with long commutes. Now, if it was a taxi and doing lots of turning, I would say the rack and pump don't owe you much if at all However, can we assume it's mostly highway miles? If so, 4 years on a rack is pretty bad, though it's possible it's the pump that's spewing bits into the rack and what's caused the issue. Sadly, I think the pumps on these cars weren't great right from the start.
