Are the 4th gens going to loose value w/ the 5th gens coming out?
So as is typical with a major design change in cars the older body styles loose value.
How much do you think the 4th gen camaro's will loose their value? For instance a 2002 SS now worth 12-15k in perfect condition. Also wont we be seeing current camaro owners selling their 4th gens and buying the 5th gens? Just a thought. |

10% decrease maybe. They have depreciated quite a bit already.

yea, the market will probably get flooded with them, so that will cause their value to go down. you know, the whole supply and demand thing. Also, whenever a new body style vehicle comes out, the previous iterations drop in value considerably.

Yeah price will drop on them. So if you dont want to put up with that then just save the car and wait 30 years and it will be worth a lot.

Well I wouldn't go that far but yeah I agree - the market always discounts ahead of time. Wicked deals out there - just go to the classifieds section of LS1tech.com...

on a side note, the chrysler dealer offered me 4k wholesale for my 94Z with a blown transmission if I signed on a 31k chally R/T (with less power and a lot more weight than my Z) lol

well, a true SE would be able to retain its value. there's a couple guys in my local club that have one. doubt they plan on selling tho. but if the offer is right.

Ithink the value may have gone down abit. I think when the real world figures come out on the SS for 35plusk$ . The SS 2000-2002 model will hold its value just fine. The f5 may be able to run high 12s and so does the 2000-2002 SS.

Well part of the reason 4th gens have lost value has been the economy, people just aren't buying sports cars right now. But the 5th gen will surely play it's part is affecting 4th gen sales as well. It will be a great time for anyone looking for a top quality 4th gen.

Does a bear $h!t in the woods? All cars lose value. Then slowly the desireable clean survivors come back.

They haven't dropped in price that much, at least not for like 01-02 SS's. They have already gone down in price by about $1,000 or so but I don't see a HUGE drop off because if you think about it, they are already 7 years or more older so they have gone down in value over those years. The recession and unemployment rate doesn't help the prices either. If you were think about selling your 4th gen and getting a fifth gen, you pry should have done that a year or two ago imo.
