Big hp turbo cars, manual or 4l80 and why
Im up around the 1000rwhp mark with twins. "Plan in 1300 with race gas" I've got a built tranny and rear but my ram clutch isnt gonna hold up. Thinking of either running a rps triple carbon or swapping to the 4l80. Car is street mostly. No roadcourse or anything. Just slow rolls and digs. I feel it will be faster with the auto but idk. I dont know much about the gearing on the 80 and how turbo's will do with it on the street "this is my first turbo car". Anyone made the swap or wish they didnt??

1281 whp here with twins. Will be M6 forever. No interest in straight line for 8-9 seconds with the tranny running the show. No interest in times at all.
Built this car to relax and have fun, i have plenty of other competitive hobbies, dont want another. YMMV Just a fun street car that does a little bit of everything real well but built more for the road course than anything else. Its just me, but going to 150-170 in a straight line is ho hum. Maybe my other hot rod ruined it for me. Lateral G's are a rush

Thats the Fasest "6 speed manual camaro". The fastest "Camaro" is ALOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT faster then a mid high 8 second pass.... Drag racing / trying to really use the power - 4l80E Having fun with a clutch / road course auto cross - 6 speed manual |

I'm building a similer set up power wise with twins. for my build I'm out the independent rear and in with straight axle (9" ford) and doing a th-400 trans with a break in it. the th-400 trans are bullet proof and with the brake in them you still shift them but there is no clutch.

I have twins and a 4L80 and it works fantastic, it depends on your goals, for ET I strongly suggest 4L80, my car is street driven and I track as well, I ride 70 mph @2k rpm, it rides very nice!!!

Auto will be faster, more consistent and more reliable. If those are important to you, go for it.

Yea if you're doing digs and straight line racing auto is the way to go. I would also look into a turbo 400 just a suggestion.

Anything north of 1000rwhp the only way to go in a straight line is turbo 400 with a gear vendors. I have had this combo in other cars and it is the only way to go. It costs some coin to do it right but is practically bulletproof. I will be going back to this again in my next build. But not in a camaro.

th-400, reverse pattern valve body, cheetah shifter, and decent converter is a bullet proof setup. ran that setup in my chevelle for 9 years making around 750 hp, both on the street and strip, it was even a daily driver for a year and ever once had an issue.
