Is a 6th gen SS faster than my 2014 ZL1?
I googled the question on how fast a 2016 SS goes and all I see is they do 12.3 in the quarter and the 2014 ZL1 m6 goes 11.9. Yet my friend who just bought a 2016 SS m6 says his will go 11.9 according what he has read, (from where I don't know). Who's right?
Maybe he is talking with slicks? Lmk |

Being a manual, he'll be lucky to hit a 12.4 bone stock.

I'd say the ZL1 will have a slight advantage but it will still be a drivers race. They are both low 12 high 11 sec cars in the 1320.

Stock for stock, they are a driver's race. The ZL1 has a lot more potential / bang for the buck, once you start modding.

Yes, I was saying stock for stock. The trans plays into it too. I think an auto 16 SS against a manual ZL1 could get bad if the driver doesn't know what he's doing in the Z. Not saying you don't...just making a point. The Auto SS will run pretty consistent low 12s. I know guys love manuals but autos are getting faster and they have always been more consistent and easier to launch.
I think if they are modded the ZL1 has a clear edge being supercharged. An LSA is a few bolt ons away from 700rwhp. M6 for M6 should be a killer race though. Practice your 60 foot times and run best 2 out of 3 Last edited by Juiced1; 06-15-2016 at 08:12 PM. |

if the SS gets the 10 speed auto next year I think it would beat the current ZL-1 but don't see that happening looks like a 2017 ZL-1 option only.

The ZL1 will prevail. It is faster, it will handle better and it has good power building potential. To that end, the 6th gen is nothing to sneeze at. It is very quick and it can handle well in its own right. Its lighter than the ZL1 but the stock power difference is overwhelmingly favoring the ZL1.

Ive pulled on a z51 c7 auto with my 14 zl1 that's basically stock (roto fab and vmax TB). I wouldn't worry about a SS camaro. The LSA has a very clear advantage once you can drive it well. My 13 ZL1 went 12.1 at 120 (showroom stock) with a weak 60ft. The proof is in the MPH.

The A8 SS would likely win vs a ZL1 Manual. Auto vs Auto, whoever spins less. The 16 has a BIG weight advantage over a 5th Gen ZL1 also. The ZL1 is a beast but Stock vs Stock, i'd say it's a drivers race. The 6th Gen is a beast right out of the box. They underrated the HP at 455 for sure. The A8 shifts are ridiculously quick and the 4.56 gearing in 1st gear make it launch hard. The A8 6th Gen is not getting enough attention IMO for how fast it is for the money...
