will a Diablo Predator stop my decel popping

i have a corsa cat back and i love the popping when slowing down... i try to get the most decel popping as possible when i drive some times... its sounds so cool and people always look... i know its a GM think were it cuts off fuel or something... i am just wondering if i install a stock tune from a Diablo Predator handheld will it get rid of this setting...

i might not even get one if it gets rid of it.. thats how much i love it

The Diablo tuner will change the way in which the car will "decel pop" but won't eliminate it.....

It does sound cool doesn't it!??

And I am just the opposite,I hate the popping. I am hoping when I do the cam, headers, tune, etc. soon I can get rid of alot of that annoying popping.

the popping is excess fuel in the exhaust that is igniting. The stock tune is fat to help cool the engine for emissions and longevity. A programmer's main ingredient is to lean out the engine to a safe level. Lean equals fast. Too lean means bad news. Leaning the engine someto means less being expelled through the exhaust hence reducing the popping sound ;-)

I guess this thread is somewhat dated, but my question is why anyone who drives a muscle car would want to eliminate the decel pop?

Would John Wayne get a bikini wax?

Same reason some people want a quiet exhaust I guess? To each their own. Some want the power and enjoyment without the sound.

The popping is actually from a lean condition, not too much fuel. To eliminate this you add fuel on decel. This on a Harley is called decel enleanment, same principle here. There is a tuning table specifically that tweaks this for a v-twin so I would guess there is the same thing in the tuning tables on a v-8.

Within a specific rpm range only on deceleration, the engine runs lean to get better gas mileage. This is when you'll get the popping. If you notice, it doesn't pop all the time, only during certain rpm's.

Personally, I don't like decel popping. I just felt like it sounds as though the engine isn't running properly. This is the first car I've had that has had it.

Luckily when I added headers, 3" Magnaflow, and got it tuned my ADM my popping is almost all gone. You barely here it every once in a while and you almost have to be listening for it.
