2SS at the Dealer again....
So had to have the torque converter replaced in the 16 2SS and while it was there I asked them to correct the groaning rear end and NPP exhaust rattle.
Are 2017s still having the exhaust rattle issue? I've already had the epoxy TSB performed and that didn't solve it. Was there ever an official fix? They're still evaluating the rear diff issue. |

I’ve had diff floid changed twice and after about 1000 miles it finally has stopped groaning. Only the past couple of times has it stopped and before it was 100% consistent on the first left hand turn leaving my house. I figured I would never have this fixed.

I had my diff completely replaced @ 9k miles and now at 20, they have flushed and put new fluid in. (It was making the noise again.) I am extremely confident it will make the noise again and there is a critical failure of the diff again. I have never had so many problems with a car. My 2012 2SS was perfect. I’m highly considering perusing a buyback and getting a different car all together....

My 2018 does not make any noise, no door panel rattle, shifts correctly, and no vibrations. My 2016 was the worst car I ever dealt with. Very happy I stood my ground and got a new vehicle from GM.

What was involved in the buy back process? If this car has one more problem I'm done with it. |

You're not alone on annoying issues. My end of 2016 production 1SS is typical of many on this site w/ interior rattles, intermittent rear diff groan (even after I changed the fluid once myself), NPP rattle (fuse pulled now), clunky AFM valves, intermittent misfire condition on cold start up when 85+ outside, intermittent steering pull, clicking wheels that need to be pulled and mating surfaces cleaned, creaking convertible top when closing, intermittent clunky 1-3 transmission shifts. I do love the styling and performance but the above is a bit disheartening @ 5K miles.
My 2012 mustang isn't as much fun to drive as the Camaro because it just can't compete with the SS's handling, overall feel and torque. However, the mustang is much more satisfying in the realm of no rattles, groans and everything works just as it should... 6 years later. Last edited by Chutzpah; 12-24-2017 at 04:10 PM. |

Got the car back and issues seemed resolved. Exhaust rattle is quiet for the first time since buying this thing.
Not sure if my torque converter was just really bad, but it shifts a lot better now. Seems to stay in the power band better and shifts harder at WOT. I think they did a software update as well. Case opened with Chevrolet to discuss reimbursement for loss of use and I'm asking about a warranty extension due to all the problems as well. Shame, I wanted to turbo or supercharge this car, but not now with all the problems. |
