not guilty, 10 over is not much, and certainly not going to give you 3 points. I think you could knock that down to something like accelerating too fast. 10 over is a small speeding ticket. 3 points is waaaaayyyy too big a punishment

My brother is a "dick", but my brother-in-law is a dick. Brother is a cop for 20 years, if he gets someone for speeding and it isn't a situation where the speeding was totally irresponsible, i.e. ripping around from lane to lane, weaving all over on the highway, if the person is up front and honest about the whole situation he works with the person come court time to knock it down or at least eliminate the points. If you're a dick while he is in his "dick" uniform, you're done, and the fines and court costs increment in relation to how big of a dick you are (i.e. trying to get off).

I have experienced in my "occasional" speeding, that when I am honest with both the officer and the one time I have had to attend court I am able to avoid points which whack you here in Jersey for Insurance. Go to the court date, try to find the officer and man up, just lay it all out that you know you broke the speed limit but just got on it too hard and just didn't get off it in time to stay legal (if that is actually how it played out). You seem like an honest guy based on your posts and the points and lasting effect they have is your concern. As corny as it sounds, honesty is the best policy. Just try to get it worked out before you're standing in front of the judge.

I'll also add this, I have come across actual dick cops, but despite that, when something bad happens, people don't call me, they call the dick and he or she shows up, and for that, no matter what, they deserve respect and thanks...

hey man, everyone has bad days, and it sounds like you have a valid reason to not be yourself.

Sorry for your loss.

How nice, I figured this would end up being a locked thread for sure.

Now everyone worked out their differences without moderator intervention.

Good going folks!

Whew!!! I would like to comment on the ticket ordeal and say with my recent experience (no speeding involved)the officer was cool and straight forward,I
made a mistake not purposely and went to court and plead nolo,no contest my driving record was clean and the ticket was reduced and no points and paid the fine, you might try this approach no judge involved the officer changed the ticket and the fine was less and I will pay better attention next
time to the signs.
