My Camaro SS vs Audi S4
First off - I know it wasn't really a fair fight. A lightly modded S4 (stock tuning) vs my Camaro SS. But this guy thought differently.
This guy (really my buddies friend) was bragging about how his 2010 Audi S4 would easily beat my bolt on L99 A6 Camaro SS. I usually ignore guys like this, but this guy needed to be taught a lesson. My friend works for a local grower and they have nice straight section of road about 1 mile long on their property (100% privately owned land). So myself and the Audi owner agreed to meet this morning out at the site. Being that its a lightly modded S4 (but supposely still has the stock tuning), I knew it would be fast off the line but no match for my car. So my only fear was that my tires wouldn't hook up. The race. My friend was waiting at the 1/4 mile mark, and we decided on a 3/2/1 go start. So we count off 3/2/1 (and he takes off- what?). He leaves early and jumps about 2 cars in front of me (you've got to be kidding). If he were to beat me, there's no way he would give me another race. So I nail the gas and luckily my tires hook up perfectly (unbelieveable). I instantly start reeling him him in and by my 2-3 gear shift (65mph or so), I've already caught him and blowing on by him. By the end of the 1/4 mile, I've got 4+ cars (hard to tell but a nice gap) on him. With a fair start, I would have beaten him by at least 5-6+ cars or so. To be expected, he left right after the race and didn't want to talk about it. I can't wait to hear his excuse (even with a jumped start) for losing so badly. I walked an S4 pretty badly in my Ls3. S4's are quick, but not SS quick. Now an Rs4, which has a closer hp to weight ratio (420/3950) would be a better match.

Right you are leadfoot. My old roommate had an '08 RS4, and it's a very strong car in stock form. Beautiful to boot, as far as performance sedans go.

Rs4's have crazy good top end, would probably put a hurting on a l99 bolt ons or not, especially when they're modded.
The new s4's are real stout cars, but they're similar to a 335, they need a pulley, downpipe, and tune to really move out (and move out they do, cars with the above mods have hit high 11s). Good run, and when he makes his excuse just smile and agree...fags like that get off on getting a rise out of people. Knowing you whooped his ass pretty good, just wave it off. Plus, the truth always travels harder and faster then lies. |

Last winter, I raced a guy with a new M3 at the track who thought his car would easily beat mine. I tore him up. Even when I tell them my car ran 12.1 and is capable of high 11s in the right conditions, they just think I'm lying. So I have to prove it to them. |

Usually, when I line up next to a guy with any car, they immediately know, "this guy means business so I better get the jump on him", even then, the sound of my exhaust note just roars down the street like a damn T-Rex until you can't even hear they're engine breathe! Talk about 8-9 car lengths and more! It's embarrassing, but I never try to pick fights, I do 68mph. I'm just glad you didn't put it into sport/competitive mode,......I get the most hook there. But then again, I'm running Pzero scorpions. Listen,.....THEY HOOK. lol. Still fresh too,......3k miles on them. GREAT JOB BRO!!

Just watch out for modded AMG E55's. They are like the SVT Cobra's of the performance luxury sedans due to its hand built and forged supercharged 5.4L that's capable of 11's bone stock down to the tires, and they love mods just about as much.
I just wish it had awd like the audi's but there isn't a e class sized audi that responds to mods as well as the e55 does. The turbo RS4's would fit the bill but are too small for my needs and the RS6 both 4.2 and 5.2 dont have much going for it in the way of large hp gains. What is a gear head like myself suppose to settle on for a mid to large size awd sedan that's capable of 500-550whp with affordable bolt ons? Would it be asking too much if GM pulled the V6 out of the awd cts sedan and coupe and dropped in the LSA to compete against the SHO? Maybe put a supercharger on a g37x or put it on a awd hemi Charger but that's more like 420whp. I need the awd because I live in the snow country and like traction. |
