Lighted Bowtie Wiring Help PLEASE
Ok guys, I'm posting this here to get the help of all you electronics wizzes.
I'm really wanting to buy a colorshifting rear bowtie from AAC that will be blue (low-intensity) during driving and red (high intensity) when the brakes are applied. AAC will sell it to me, but says I'm on my own as far as instructions go. I did find this wiring diagram that one of them drew up for it but it might as well be in Latin to me. I have also gathered I will need three of these to make it work. Now, I'm really good at following instructions, but my electrical knowledge stops at screwing in lightbulbs. I'm really hoping somebody here can help me out to make sense of the wiring and tell me what all I will need to buy (other than those three relays, somebody said something about 5-pin connectors or something...??). Any info would be helpful. Anybody in the DFW area that would be able to help would be AMAZING (I can pay you), or if anyone knows of a place in DFW that will do it for me, that would be awesome too. I really don't want to have to settle for just the plain lighted bowtie, I want it unique and the way it is in my mind. Thanks guys, Matt

Pretty dang good diagram! That's exactly how it goes down. The Relays are very common. Autozone/Checker/Advanced carries them for under $5 each. Looks like ya just need a wiring guy and some Dr Peppers to pay him in! Ivan |

I actually know two electrical engineers now that I think about it...but neither of whom I'd like to really spend an afternoon with if you catch me.

Too bad you weren't up here Matt.
I'm pretty good with electrical stuff. Remember helping me with the highwing? Put the relays inside the area of the trunk and under the carpet. Tape up your contacts in the relays. All you need for chasis ground is to find a nice bolt, preferably unpainted. I crimp one of those round circle connectors on the wire and tighten the bolt. The whole frame of your car carries the Negative current from the battery. You could in theory find that place behind the rear seat (wiring of highwing spoiler) unplug the harness, shove the wire in there that goes to your bowtie from the high mount stop light, then plug it back in. The other option is to T-tap it. But that is your personal preference.

That diagram is in english, it just needs rotated left 90 degrees.
Show pics when you get it going.

Hey Matt, If you need some help with this, I am from the DFW area. I have never actually used these particular relays or dealt with colorshift RGB LED's, but I am half electrical-engineer, so it shouldnt be too hard to figure out (other half of me is computer engineer in case you were wondering). Plus I know how to connect all these things and have all the necessary tools and such. Shoot me a PM if you need help.

No, I never did. I decided it wasn't worth the price and possible headaches. Plus, I'd rather not give AAC a cent.

I did this. You can see a couple pics of it in my build thread on this page:
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...=47925&page=10 I used the three relay setup and tied into the brake light and tag light wires to make it work.
