102mm Upgrade - What Will It Do For Your LSA/LS9?

Since the introduction of the LS9 and LSA platforms, we have been researching and testing every possible combination to maximize performance. Standard upgrades, such as camshafts, cylinder heads, pulleys, headers, etc. all show great gains across the power band, and prove how responsive these factory supercharged engines are to modification. But what happens when you have done all of these, and still want to push some more power without replacing the supercharger, breaking into the engine internals, or adding nitrous?

The answer is a ported 102mm supercharger inlet and snout, with the addition of a Nick Williams 102mm throttle body. The gains are outstanding!

This test was performed on one of our customer's ZL1 Camaros. The vehicle arrived after having previously installed a Vengeance Racing Custom Camshaft kit, American Racing longtube headers, LPE upper and lower pulleys, and a Snow Performance stg II methanol injection system.




We performed three baseline dyno pulls when the vehicle arrived to us to have a basis for our testing. The car put down 662rwhp / 646rwtq!!

After the dyno, the vehicle moved immediately over to the lift to begin disassembly.

First, we ported the factory TVS 1900 inlet.






And then port-matched the supercharger snout.




The result was a perfectly matched port job throughout!




Finally, we bolted on the Nick Williams 102mm drive-by-wire throttle body.





THE RESULTS:

A gain of 53rwhp and 55rwtq!!!!





Adding the NW102mm TB does require tuning the ECU for proper operation.

This package can be purchased through our Online Store with or without the additional Nick Williams throttle body for all LSA and LS9 vehicles!

As you can see from the graphs, torque is not an issue with this upgrade! Driveability is also spot-on. A lot of people have concerns with driveability, but with the correct tune, it will not be an issue.

please tell me what is special about a tune with a 102mm NW? Is it anything other than air/fuel calibration? Some here have mentioned a "slam shut" issue during a shift. Thanks

Stephen I have not had any problems with it closing during shifts and I'm very happy with the performance of the NW102.

That was my ZL1 with 102mm upgrade. And it runs totally awesome no problems at all. Mike at Vengeance did tuning and it is spot on.

I would imagine you gained some HP by just porting the inlet and the snout. I wish you would have done another pull on the dyno with the stock one {or whatever was on the car on the first dyno pulls} before you put the 102 throttle body on to see exactly what each one added HP wise.

Pretty sure the 102 won't open all the way if the snout isn't ported.

have you guys dyno'd after just porting a stock throttle body and/or blower? i think this is going to be my first mod to mine.

It's pretty funny that I thought hey how about this design it would improve airflow and make the blower much better.

Just came across this image of a ported LS9 blower snout on the left and the LSA blower snout on the right
So in stock form the LS9 snout already has this design.
