Dealer Installed Stripes HUGE MISTAKE!!

The stripes that will be dealer installed will be a NIGHTMARE! There are gonna be bubbles, alignment issues, etc. Customers are going to be too picky (rightfully so) and dealers usually do not employ the proper people to handle these types of stripes. GM will wash their hands of it, dealers will have to order replacement (backorder) stripes, etc. Yeesh!!

You heard it here first. This is gonna be a BIG MESS! Just watch.

Mine will be painted, but I do think the factory vinyl stripes will be fine.

And I also do not agree that GM will "wash their hands of it" - There's a reason they're working to have more stripe options applied at the factory.

Usually the factory installed stripes are 99% of the time, flawless. This is what is going to happen. The first cars released with dealer installed stripes are going to be CSI nightmares and the dealers are not going to want to "eat" replacement stripes (and labor). There will be a direct correlation between dealer installed stripes and poor Camaro CSI scores. GM will then either, install all of the colors at the factory or discontinue them all together so dealers cannot screw them up.

Again, this will be a big mess and a huge topic of discussion whent he first cars are released.

As I said above - GM is already working to have more of the stripe packages applied at the factory. No need to get this worked up about it.

If a dealer messes up an installation of the stripes, GM WILL NOT WARRANTY IT! It will drop right back in the dealers lap. I'm sure there are some capable dealers to do these but most will not be able to get it right (or to customer's satisfaction). Ask your GM dealer what happens when a conversion company goes out of business and the stripes they installed go bad. GM washes their hands of it.

How do you know this well enough to put it in caps?
I can't believe they'd take a page out of Toyota's book and refuse to warranty something that was their (albeit indirectly) fault.

On a similar note...what does it matter if GM fixes it, or the dealer does? So long as it gets done correctly, right?

And.... Take care what we all say, now.....

Okay. I meant no offense.

Now, answer me this, if you would...say your people screw up while applying stripes...should it be GM's problem to pay for replacements and reparations? I mean, how is it any different than installing an aftermarket sound system or whathaveyou, and breaking it/messing up?
