Would you Twin Turbo for the right price?
Would you find yourself buying a Twin Turbo kit for your V6 or your V8 ?
I planned on making a thread with a poll in it. I have a few associates that are certified GM technicians and others that are professional tuners/welders/installers who are planning on possibly starting a twin turbo kit to compete with the APS kits or others, and would be making them to start with the C6 corvettes. Next would be on the SS camaro, followed very shortly by the V6 camaro. Basically I am just trying to get a feel for the community, and what future owners would be interested in. Feel free to expand this conversation. The kit for the corvette will be started in about 3 weeks after all the parts arrive. |

Don't want to clutter up the engine that much.. if I go turbo it'll be just 1, but also tossing around supercharge idea.

This may be an option for the Camaro, but unfortunately not so easy on the Vettes. There is no room on that car, but may be on the camaro.
The only reason i suggested the twin setup is you have different options to pick from obviously. Twin 30r's will make like 550/600 on pump gas. Would spool very very quickly as if you didnt even know they were there. Twin HTA3586's would be a little slower at spooling, but would make easy over 700whp on pump gas. The race gas numbers would be astronomical, and would obviously require a full build, but then again, 1300 whp would be nasty ? ? ?!!! One big fat turbo normally makes power, and is cheaper, but spool is an issue. |

I dont understand why the logic on this site is if you want more performance just get the v8 dont mod your v6...what if you want your v6 to be faster and maintain the higher mpg ??

Looking at all boosted options. It will come down to price versus performance.
Torque and Horsepower First with stock LS3/L99 and second with billet bottom end The possibilities: Magnuson Whipple Eaton ProCharger ATS Twin Turbo STS Twin Turbo Nelson Twin Turbo (must have built motor) The average price point for these seems to be in the 5 - 7K range for 550-600 hp and corresponding torque. Any others? I don't mean to be negative, but if you just create a "me too" twin turbo kit, you are fighting the incumbents with a track record. If you can come in at a better price point, then you should have something marketable. I hope your team has the ability to provide this type of solution. Good Luck ! |
