Dont think I'm wrong thought, just forging my own point of view. After trying mustangs, G8 GXP, challenger and now vette, the formers just feel too heavy for their own good. It's true I'm more into spirited driving, and occasional track day, than just smashing the accell in a straight line, and for this reason I liked gm's claim of the camaro being "sports car of the 21th century", etc etc. the vette gives more in the areas I'm looking for.. more accel, more grip, better handling, still comfortable. Dont get me wrong I'm not saying I'm right and your are wrong... Just adding my point of view to the list in hoping it will in form the starter of the thread in his decision. I'm not beating on the Camaro, still thinking it is a really cool car and that is the reason I still am in the middle of a dilema.. I'm just making sure I'm making the right decision. Since this weekend's drive of the ZHZ shook my opinion, seen that you can find new or 1year old vettes for the price of a new SS or just a little more, and seen that the thread was started in a comparative direction it feels just fair to speak about this. And for the sports car that can barely hold up to the best... part. Well it again is all a question of point of view. In this price range... HRF

I don't know about anyone else here, but after reading about 150 posts in no less than three threads about which is better the Camaro SS or Mustang GT500, and what can be done with mods for what cost, and the mindless drivel of continuously repeated arguments I am just going to get a Vette now.
Even a used C6 with a LS2 is faster and better over all than a Camaro SS or GT500, and can be found for the price of a new SS. The only reason to get anything else is for a back seat. If you think you need a backseat consider two things. 1) If you are single, do you really need a back seat? 2) If you have a family and need a backseat, you are equally likely to have another more family oriented car with proper room anyway....so again do you really need the back seat? My 2 cents.

For all of you that keep asking Sport car or Muscle car, remember what a "Muscle Car" was all about...Big engine in a lighter car. So, with that in mind is the 3900# Camaro w/ 425 horses the muscle car or is the 3200# w/430 horses the muscle car???
Having driven numerous Camaros and Corvettes over the years, i understand the "it" factor of having the car everyone else wants. The Camaro wins that for the moment, but in a year that "it" factor will fade, that being said, the feeling that the car gives you will always be there. ...And the feeling I've had driving Vettes has always been better! You face a tough decision, my best advice would be drive both if your able to, then think about what exactly you want out of the car. If your looking for performance...well then it is simply the Corvette, if your looking for nostalgic styling in a modern car...then Camaro. If your looking for an investment...Buy an older version of either!!! |

$39K for a Vette vs. $36K for a Camaro? This is a no brainer, Vette all the way!!! If you need a back seat then look for a G8GXP IMO.

you will not be sorry with the Vette!!!! you'll get a SUPER good deal right now on them and if... if you still want to get the Camaro wait till the buzz is gone and you'll be able to get a better a deal on one just sitting on the lot....... next year this time it will just be a Camaro (not a bad thing)..... think about 2002 when Camaro was still around.... a Vette is a Vette and Camaro is a Camaro..... 39K is a good deal... that's what it costs in '06 for a 1LT.... with all the incentives i would think you could get a 2LT w/Z51 for little over $40K

Right now the Camaro will turn more heads. I am going to ponder this delima for a while. I suspect that I will wait till the prices the dealers are charging for the Camaro drop below MSRP routinely and then go with the Camaro. I really want a Corvette but since there are three in the family I guess I will have to wait till the kid goes off to college. Also I really love the Grand Sport so I am not sure if a regular vette will be enough to get me real excited.

I'd go with whatever makes you the happiest. If it was me, I'd get the Camaro simply because I see too many Vette's on the road and they no longer make my head turn..

We had the Corvette first ('01 Triple Black Convertible, auto, 16,000 miles) and then decided to purchase the Camaro (2SSRS M6). Vette is a great long distance cruising car (great handling with plenty of power). Camaro is more of a "Beast" to drive and is perfect for Car Shows and Cruise Nights.
