Adams Polish Scratch and Ceramic Kits COMPLETED!...

Well, after a 12 hour marathon, and a couple of hours today doing the interior, wheels, AND CLEAN-UP ;o), Finally got it done -- then immediately took it for a ride! So shiny!

Last night @ Midnight after I did the sealant:

Really like the Adams products -- they give great results...

Didn't take a ton of pics -- pretty much the same as when I had a detailer do it -- except I did this one...

Not too bad for a car raced on road courses!

So, as things go, this is pretty much the car I dreamed of having (except blue, which is my favorite color - wife loved the RJT, guess who won). Not much left to do, except the transmission — lose some weight (me that is) or Z/28 brakes ;o)

What to do next....

Took her out again tonight -- running fantastic -- wife just loves the heated Recaros -- still, it rides like a track car -- which I personally love.

Hit 2000 miles since the GPI rebuild, everything is breaking in nicely -- not stompin' on it in this weather -- just no grip on the tires (57° tonight).

Just gonna keep it as clean as I can, drive it to get some breakin miles on it -- then in the spring, fresh DT40, diff oil change -- Lucas 85W140 (Trans is in great shape right now)...

Ah, just a joy to drive -- and it has the 'new car smell' too!

You did the right thing!! Get the color SHE likes! I just lucked out, we had the same favorite in my house.

My A6 is holding strong too, I'm kind of thinking the 6l80 doesn't have a huge sale value, so currently I will only upgrade if it explodes *shrug* right or wrong.

Car looks awesome man. Keep it up.....

"Idol Hands"!!! Hahaha..... it is a curse.

Thanks!

6L80 is holding up for me too -- I get the reasons for a 6L90 but, after talking to Ryan @ GPI, heat is a big issue if not managed.

I'll just keep changing the trans fluid @ 10k miles, or 5K miles if I'm tracking it more.

There's ALWAYS something to do on the beast -- just need to find it.

One thing for sure, the Recaros are fantastic. Was concerned, but now having driven with them a while, glad I got them before they become 'extinct'...

Right now, very content with enjoying the fruits of the labor ;o)

Well, as my luck goes, the rear steam line has a leak. I purchased a Stant pressure tester, adapter, and finally found it. When hot, never saw the leak but could smell it. Radiator hardly lost any fluid. One I tested cold at 20 psi, it showed up. I used my inspection camera and was able to find the location. New silicone heater hose will be in tomorrow and I'll see if I can remove the steam line setup without removing the SC lid... We’ll see...

Here is the leak once I put the pressure tester on:

With 20 psi, it really showed up.

This is the one we purchased:
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/tfs-3060061p

Here is the summit kit after I removed it (yes, I had to fight a bit, but I did not have to remove the SC lid!

This is how the steam line is assembled (minus the hose to the front (passangers->tee->drivers):

Now, with just a little effort, I was able to pull the hose off of the tee (this is on the drivers side, and this is where the leak showed up):

This is 1/4 hose, yet the tee appears to be better suited for 3/16. The spring clamps just didn't hold up.

Next, I was able to pull off the tee from the passengers side with very little effort:

Now, when I disassembled this, I was able to remove the fittings with my hands (I moved the fitting barbs enough to 'rock' them loose). I then took the whole kit off.

I could NOT pull off the hose from the fitting barbs -- those were on tight! I had to actually use a razor knife to remove them -- I would have expected the tee fitting to be the same way but, alas, it was not.

I have the silicone hose coming, but, I may go with the AN setup for the back since it will connect the passengers side directly to the drivers:

Install guide:

https://static.trickflow.com/global/...s-306s0601.pdf

Just use half of it to get the job done.

Summit is in Arlington here, so, I'll be visiting it tomorrow!

I wanted to show how I 'pinched' off the radiator.

Since the car sat 24 hours, I was able to just 'pinch' off the upper hose -- the thermostat did the lower hose. Doing this kept fluid from leaking out (faster anyway) long enough for me to cap off the head inserts.

Did the job!
