How many of you guys plan to leave your ZL1 stock??
My last car was a 2008 C6 Z51 Coupe. I supercharged it with meth injection and longtubes. It went 10.5 at 135mph on low boost with a stock bottom end. It was scary fast but a few weeks after I did that I realized I had more fun when the car was stock. The car was scary fast and it was fun to know my car is faster than car A and B and so on but that wore off fast.
I recently had to decide between a new ZL1 and a new C7 Stingray Z51 and now don't kill me, I went with the vette. I love both cars but I guess I have always been a corvette fan at heart. I wish I could afford both but that is not the case right now. This stingray I plan to leave stock and just enjoy the car. I'm never going to be the fastest and I don't really care about that anymore. Just wondering how many of you guys have had similar experiences ?? Awesome cars guys |

I am leaving mine close to stock but possibly for different reasons than you....
I like knowing I have a muscle car with 580HP and a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. I can drive this hard for a good while and if something catastrophic happens I can take it to the dealer. I have used the powertrain warranty on two separate occasions with my Chevrolet Avalanche and it saved me a good amount of money. If money was no object, I probably wouldn't mod this car, I would just buy a Z06 or something similar and run it with the same ideology. |

I will add very little to the car maybe intake as far as performance goes, but im not scared to modify the looks of it, im with you though about the 100,000 mi powertrain and I had to use it already

Isn't there a corvette forum for you guys?
Seriously though, congrats on the new car. That is an awesome machine for sure.

Too late...
No seriously...I have just some basic bolt on stuff that can be removed easily if need be. I think the ZL1 is a awesome car in stock form.

I traded a C7 7-speed manual for my 2015 ZL1 so congrats on yours. Mine was a Black/Black 2LT coupe with chrome wheels. The C7 is very impressive car but I love my ZL1 even more.
My drag racing days are behind me but I may do some cosmetic mods, especially some carbon fiber under the hood. The ZL1 is such an awesome machine that, for me, performance mods are not on the horizon.

My mod path depends on how quick the car is for the simple plan I have for it now. (305/35/18 DRs, APEX Catch can, Green drop in filter in the stock airbox)
If I can hit ~11.80s in good air with that setup I'll be happy. If not I'll look at LS9 cam, 10% OD and tuning. That'll add over 100RWHP. |

I understand the OP's thinking because the thought of I shouldve left it stock has crossed my mind also. But that quickly disappears when I pull into a parking lot somewhere and its full of people and car guys and you see them turn their heads or do a double take on your car because they recognize there isn't anything stock going on under the hood. Exhaust open, no cats, long tubes, camming. I dunno how many people I've seen nudge their friend or ole lady and point to my car when they hear me coming. Or you they are on sidewalk and you idle past them and you hear them say "damn!!!!" Im patiently waiting for my C7 Zo6 that I'm pretty sure I'll leave stock its auto and the wife hates that she can't drive my ZL-1. I'm still debating selling the ZL-1 and doing a Z/28 twin turbo as strictly Racecar only.

Currently stock and likely to stay that way. There's really nothing I would want to change. I love her just the way she is. :-)

No stock for me... I just love when the Z06's, the cobras, the vipers, the ZR1's and sadly most of the vette owners think they are faster and I leave them for dead with a shocked look on their face.
