This perception that some hold, some I say, not all, that many chose an automatic over a manual tranny is because manuals require some fine tuned skill to operate sort of tickles me and maybe some other old timers who cut their teeth driving manuals. Maybe it's because there is a less percentage of those under say, 40 , that never learned to drive manual and therefore the segment of those who have learned somehow feel some skillful superiority. I find it amusing.

Everyone knows the Silver Ice Camaros are faster especially with the A6.

Not trying to argue as honestly I have nothing against autos or those who choose them, but isn't that also as important as well? that 26hp turns into closer to 35 or so all said and done.
The A6 makes up the difference in trans gearing. For example, with the ZL1 both have the same engine, the A6 has about 25hp less to the ground but is faster 0-60 than the M6.

Gearing helps but the automatics torque multiplication is the major factor why the HP difference is a non issue.

When people dyno their cars, this is accounted for and I think it's 5-10% more for the automatic than the stick. I think it's around to 20-25% total for the automatic and around 15% total for the sticks.
My tuner tells me that the bone stock LS3 cars average about 365 to the rear wheels.
He says that the bone stock L99 cars average about 315 and he says they are not as consistent as the LS3s. He said he's had some that didn't make 300.
And before all you L99 guys start flaming me, I'm just repeating what he told me. And yes, he's not a L99 fan, but he's not a Camaro fan either. He likes Corvettes. He says that they are so much lighter and that just makes it so much easier to make them fast. If you don't like what he says, flame HIM.

I think if the ls3 was wiping the floor with the l99 we would...but since it doesnt ....there is no reason to bring it up.

[QUOTE=EmeryZ28;7906654]Ive noticed over the past year that I have been on this board that the L99 guys sure spend lots of time defending themselves and justifying their choice[/QUOTE
Sometimes the ls3 guys need to be reminded that their cars dont dominate the l99...its ok..ill remind you again.

That's a little high in this day and age. My car was right at 17% with the A6.

Orange 2010, I have the exact same car as you have. I purchased my new back in Nov of 09. Love the car. Don't worry about that L99. You can fix it. I did. Enjoy your journey to more power. :-)

Very amusing....considering that todays cars are way easier to drive..there is no exrta skill ....amd most of these guys....they wont admit it ...are grouped into the large percentage of average drivers.
