How long did you wait?

How long did you wait before you purchased your Camaro? Did you buy it immediately when it was available or did you have to save up and then buy it. I am at the 1 year mark in my saving (the wait is killing me ) and plan to finally buy my Camaro for my birthday in September. Is there anyone taking the slow and steady pace like I am?

yes I started looking a year ago, they were still asking sticker for the car. I DONT PAY STICKER FOR ANYTHING! I got my 2010 2ss for $4200 off sticker! it had 1,200 miles on it as a dealer demo, so I was able to use $1K from my GM card to buy it down further, I saved $2K in a year altogether with tax tags and all the bs, I financed 33K @ 2.99 for 60 months, glad I waited, don't ever pay sticker, or god forbid ADM, which I here they are getting $12K over sticker for the chop tops!

$4200 off sticker sounds nice...How much of a discount do you think will be on the 2011's after the 2012's come out later this year?

My discount was 1200 the other 3k came from GM cash to dealer rebate, the dealer called me at first and only offered the 3k off the sticker, I was ready to bite at that, then another dealer called me and told me that if I wanted a 2010 there was a rebate on it. I called the first guy back ripped him a new ass, called back got a sales manager involved, told him I wanted the 1200 off and the 3k rebate as well off the sticker. They really had no choice, had another dealer giving me 1500 off a 2011, told the first guy "I am buying a car in the next 48 hours, you decide if its yours or the other guys" He called me back in 5 mins. took the deal. Get at least 1200 to 1500 off the sticker or walk. Shot gun it out to as many dealers as the internet will get you, get all their quotes, don't be color sensitive and don't do it till you are REALLY ready to buy.

I've been waiting since the concept unveiled. I'm still going to be waiting until sometime between August and December to get mine though (I graduate college next spring, so it's sort of a graduation to myself).

I feel your pain! Sometimes I think to myself, "Self... if it's so hard to wait... why in the world are you on camaro5.com torturing yourself?!"... guess I didn't get that memo

I have the article from the Seattle Times that announced the end of the Camaro back in 2002. I think the last one rolled off in August? - It was a red Z28.

I was in college then, and I said someday I'd buy myself a new Camaro. I had a '97 V6 at the time, and it was getting older. Had 60k miles...hard miles...

After that, I owned a number of different used Camaros, all of which were both fun and disappointing. Kept telling myself I'd buy a new one someday.

The first 5th gens started shipping in late 09, I believe. I waited a little more than a full year. I had a '09 Colorado at the time that I was getting ready to pay off. Paid it off, threw that down on the Camaro in Dec 2010, and haven't looked back.

I began saving as soon as I saw the first concept, however, from day 1 I wanted a convertible. So when preorders came avaliable, I ordered thee first day they began (Nov 15) and had a pretty good down payment when it arrived in Feb!
