a couple of 1LE's showed up at the shop today for some work. i could not pass up the photo op

I went to NOLA on the 16th
the first time out it was a bit daunting how fast the track was. i met some great folks, one was an instructor down from MS. he rode with me on the 3rd session Sat and helped with some pointers. on the 4th session, i shaved 3 seconds off of my times. i got down to a 2:03

overall a great time and beautiful weather

So how do you rank NOLA against MSR Houston or TWS?

I'm going to MSR next week, so I can't compare it. NOLA has high speeds, a nice series of esses.........all quite enjoyable. Only downside, and it is minimal, is at the end of the front straight it is fairly rough. Need to keep to the outside, have your passing done early. TWS has elevation changes, a good surface and is close to the house. All that is good.

I will go back to NOLA again

they change the entire feel of the car. i get more/clearer input from the car......i was not expecting to get that. it is very similar to the increased amount of feel you get when going from a soft to stiff sidewall on a set of tires. this should minimize the amount of effort i expend holding myself in place on the track with my legs.

i tried something different, by placing the seatbelt through the seat, rather than in the loop. the belt now sits just above my shoulder. it did not feel right on me when tucked in the loop...........it seemed too far away because of the bolster

How easy/hard are those seats to install ?
And do you see an enormous drop in Oil temp once you installed the oil cooler ? I am questioning whether or not to get this because I am questioning whether or not leave my stock or add a supercharger and that could be a problem down the line.

there were no difficulties with dissassembly/reassembly, there is plenty of info available. i did have to cut the carpet around the HVAC dump and also i could not get the headliner out of the car. so i worked above the headliner with it perched on the rear deck and the hand brake.

pic 2 shows some of the tiles installed, note that the car already has quite a bit of panel deadening material in place, mostly on the floor
pic 3 is the passenger floor with CCF and MLV installed

overall quite an improvement, my wife says that it is MUCH quieter now. i noticed that nearly all of the tire noise has gone away. this setup seems to remove higher frequencies, the exhaust is still very nice to hear though. i did run out of CLD tiles, so i still have the doors to do.

My Camaro is a bit loud inside the cabin, and stumbled upon this and I'm interested in doing it. You mention that there is plenty of info on this... could you help me out and point me in the right direction where you found this info? Thanks!

2 bolts on each seat, easy. I found it easier if the seats were raised and slid forward.

I put in the temp gauge at the same time as the cooler. But I sure feel better having it!

I have noticed as much as a 20deg difference in temps between the factory guage and the aftermarket one with my aftermarket oil cooler. If you're going supercharged and plan on pushing the car hard it's a must. If you are just doing short sprints, drag racing, and daily driving you could probably get by without it. Road course driving pretty much requires an upgraded oil cooler.

i got the materials list from mattyjam's thread and confirmed it with the supplier. i did not use as much of the MLV as i ordered (i did not hang it on the sides of the car, only the floor pan, tunnel and trunk). the other material quantities were spot on..........other than wanting 20 more tiles for the doors. to be truthful, i probably put too many of the tiles in the rest of the car. you only need 25% coverage
ALSO: i could not get the roof liner out of the car, i felt as though i would bend it, so i rested it on the hand brake and rear package tray to work above it.

"More quiet, this time inside
We are planning to drive the power tour this year. I decided that it would be more comfortable if I could quiet down the cabin a bit, no need to be silent like a tomb, but just take some of the edge off. We’ve taken it on trips and we have to raise our voices to hold a conversation. So I did more research and came up with a plan to add some additional sound deadening to the cabin. (THX to mattyjman, good info here: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=287417 ) I’ve never done anything like this before, so it should be quite an adventure. Placed the order and the bits are showing up at the house. I’ll add pics and maybe a DIY. I think this will be a full week long project.
List of materials:
70 CLD Tiles
1 Roll of Butyl Rope
121.5 sq ft of MLV
10 sheets of CCF
40 sq ft of Thinsulate
3 Packs of Velcro Strips
32 oz can of HH-66 vinyl cement
2in maple roller

EDIT: needed 20 more tiles, i ran out before i could do the doors. ordered and expect delivery before the weekend"

Thanks for the info. I must have skipped right past post #32 when I was looking for your write-up. Not sure when I will be able to start on this project since I will probably be doing it solo and it's my DD. It's kinda hard to go 2 1/2 days without a car.

You can do portions over several weekends
It will only require a bit more planning and repeat disassembly

About the same as the jack and spare I carry around.........loosing weight helps, but seat time is more effective
