Repairing a DRL harness

Just a quick "thank you" to whatever previous owner modified the DRL harness in my car. Ever since I bought the thing, I've never had DRL function, and the DRLs always kicked on with the parking/headlights. I wanted to get the DRL harness adapter for my car (DRLs all the time), but it wouldn't function in my car.

Today, I decided to figure it out. Seems some genius decided to cut up the original harness and splice the DRLs into the parking light leads using about 14 butt connectors, three layers of heatshrink tubing and about 40 feet of electrical tape. I ended up cutting all of that mess out and rebuilding the factory harness (it took about a total of 6 feet of primary wire to do it).

Anyway, the DRLs now function to OEM specs and I can use a plug-in harness to get the effect I want. I'm just irritated as hell to have fix someone else's kludge work, especially considering that the original owner could have achieved the exact same result with a $20 harness adapter that would been faster and easier than cutting up the original harness. There's no way they actually saved any more or time with that crappy mod.
