zl1 vs demon - Page 2

Unfortunately I find the Vid posted in here hard to believe since with a 200HP difference between our ZL1's and Dodge's satanic Demon, the Demon should've spanked the Camaro even though it weighs 500lbs more.
I'd imagine that either the races were rigged or the ZL1 had some major mods to it.

Not saying it would make that much of a difference, but being on the stock ECU and pump gas the Demon is not much faster than a stock Hellcat. Only when you throw the ECU and racegas does it become the car they made it out to be. Well... kinda. Because nobody has come close to a 9.6.

True, although I've been waiting to see someone driving a Demon up here in North Scottsdale but nothing yet.
I figured some sugar daddy would've bought one for his kid under twenty-five to tool around in, but I guess the economy isn't 2006 anymore.

I am a chevy guy thru and thru, but come on guys. Stock for stock, tire for tire, Auto vs Auto, there is no way the ZL1 is in the same league as the Demon, even with the 808 horse tune, never mind the 840 horse tune. I am referring to 1/4 mile prepped track runs only with same driver, same day, same track.

Nobody ever hinted that the ZL1 would be in the same class at the drag strip. But I can tell you that its a LOT closer average vs average, in your regular circumstances, than most people think. As noted before, the Demon owners are running all over the place from some hitting 9.9 (apparently?) to others that can't break into the 10s. Magazines are running 11s. That says a lot to me.

The video the OP posted showed two cars that should be VERY similar on power (both around 700-720 RWHP). And the ZL1 destroyed it. So I don't know what's up with that but the difference was SO big that like I said before, it looks like the ZL1 could have ran with it stock for stock.

The Demon is a lot of hype and a lot of BS. Sure SOME people will get the results out of it it's claimed to be able to give. But most people will just brag about it while runnings high 10s/11s.

To many unknowns about those two cars. Dyno both of them same day , same dyno and now I will listen. The demon driver could have been a dumb ass, The ZL1 driver could have been 100% on his game. The Magazine guys that couldn't get a legit 808 horse Demon into the 10's probably couldn't get a ZL1 into the 11's

Was the demon running in its highest mode with 100plus octane as required for the 840 mode, Or was it in econo mode only making 500hp or just the standard mode? Who was driving both cars? A bad driver can make a fast car look slow. What mods did the Zl1 have? You must be a liberal with your last comment about wanting the proven time deleted from the universe. Just an obersation nothing political here to see.

2 Demons at our test and tune at Bradenton last night. One was mid 10's at 127 and the other was 10 flat at 133. The faster one sounded louder but I never asked if he had modifications.
