Probably because of the times from the video. Nice times by the way since your car seems to be mostly stock.

Your times, and I don't even want to think about how long it took you to sand the manifold down. Nice work!

On another note:: I am flat out floored at how de-tuned these engines are from GM. I also bow every morning in the direction of the GM plant after seeing the new 5.0 Ford Engine. I Just gave a seminar on induction system design at the Rose Hulman Institute of Technology and saw some new 5.0 mustang engine components while I was there. I was able to sit down and and talk to one of the brilliant engineers who designed this thing. The engineer who did a lot of design work on the 5.0 gave us a cursory overview of the inductions system and cylinder head design. It looks like Ford tied the engineers hands juuuuuussssust a bit when it came to engine size. The new 5.0 (302cid give or take a cid) makes a whopping 412hp and 390ft/lbs. Thats damn good power for its displacement and I tip my hat to all the engineers who made that possible but lets put that in perspective relative to the Camaro's LS3 or L99. The 5.0 makes 1.36 horsepower per CID. from the factory. The Camaro LS3 makes 1.13 horsepower per cid. After my little modifications with headers and a good tune my Camaro makes 1.23 horsepower per cid which is a far cry less than the what the 5.0 starts out at with 1.36! Our 373cid Camaro engines would have to produce 507HP from the factory to equal the 5.0 HP/cid of 412hp. This makes me do two things. Give a BIG hand to Ford for producing a factory high performance engine that produces 1.36hp/cid AND ask them what the hell they where thinking? You cant make the thing bigger in displacement like the LS3 and you have ZERO latitude for increased lift and faster ramp rate cams ( to an extent) like the LS3-7 series engines. The guys who buy the Camaro have all the room in the world to play and after they get through playing the Mustang doesn't stand a chance in hell. I loved the older 5.0 Mustangs and I love the 5.7 hemi Challengers. I am not, nor have I ever been brand loyal. I just try and pick the car with the best power, cost effective power, best power weight ratio and "fun factor" for me. The Camaro has so much room to play with in the power department, its a no brainer. I really dont think Camaro owners understand or appreciate what they have been given too play with!

I agree with you on the "brand loyalty" thing. Especially when the brands themselves seem less than loyal. Can't wait for more updates on your build.

yeah I will go with that looks like your hooked like me lol.I work for BES Racing Engines when we got our ls7 done to dyno for engine masters we had 8 days to dyno and make all our changes.I tested with a stock computer over a after market on a 418 ls1 motor the week before the power was the same or better with the stock computer (stock one showed 3 more but with storm coming though and not keeping up with weather updates on the dyno I say very close)so I used a stock computer to get a baseline on power.I have dyno tuned other lsx motors that had less drivability then our ls7 engine masters I told the guys in the shop if we won with It I was going to buy a 2010 camaro and try put it in for lsx shotout wow that allmost cost me lol. I didnt think we could get that close with what testing time we had.
With the rules being limited on efi and our time we had after the build I was stuck with a carb that made more midrange power with little better emc score. Drivabilty for sure I can smoke the carb and possibly it could run faster in the car with efi. lsx stuff is very tuneable with todays software and the computers that are so powerfull in lsx cars with that combination its open some kool stuff if your not scared to lurn it. |

I just now stumbled on this thread. Looks great and I like what you're doing.
