Eh, I don't really see how that matters. Depending on how painful it is for you, what's the harm is being safe rather than sorry?

Mine does similar and I cannot have just 1 window down or cracked. They both have to be down or both up. I'm also highly sensitive to sound, so for me, things like this are hell.

I either have both windows up all of the way or both windows down all of the way. The pain isn't bad, just feels like you have a mild ear infection for maybe 30 mins after getting out of the car.

For me, the sensation is sort of like feeling bass note pressure, but in your ear canal coupled with those times when you stick a QTip in your ear and don't notice there's no cotton on the ends...

On the bright side, I hear conversations from across the room w/o even needing to hang a mic over them.

I used to mess with people and instant message co-workers the answers to questions they were asking to each other.. The look on their face when they said "Wait, you could hear us?!?!?!!" was priceless.. Because then you can see them replaying all their other chats and wondering if they said anything they shouldnt.

My gf actually has this same issue. Loud music, wind noise or anything loud causes her pain. Its a medical condition that's pretty common, has nothing to do with the car.
Also can happen at any point of your life, her mother just recently started having the same issue.

Its known as hyperacusis

Hyperacusis?

EDIT -- nvm, just saw you updated it.. That's what I was thinking, all sounds like my issue... it becomes physically painful for me to be in the same room with people if too many are talking at once. I've had to walk outside while at restaurants before because I'll get overloaded and panic.

80 minutes is a long drive, and I do think yes having the windows down could cause ear issues. Others' on the forum have complained about the "thumping" or whatever and I think after 80 minutes of this, it could have an impact.
