Anyone Used a Hellcat Pump in a Stock Hat

Was reading another thread and the OP talked about using Hellcat pumps, so I Googled it and looks very similar to a ZL1 pump. Seems like a $200 returnless pump with roughly twice the capacity of a ZL1 pump would be a great solution for sub 800hp builds. You could even overdrive it with a BAP and possibly reach 1000hp. What am I missing?

I’m definitely interested in knowing if this would be a direct fitment myself. I am looking for a pump that I can run 800whp without having to do a bunch of wiring etc etc.

From my research, if it could be done, it would have been done by now. The closest I found was using a CTSV bucket with replacement DW pumps. It takes some modifications, but is doable. I even bought a brand new after market pump, but ended up going with an early release DSX triple in-tank pump.

The DSX auxiliary pump is probably the simplest system to install.

It's supposed to be pulse width modulated, but it has a couple bad reviews on Summit and people say it runs hot.

Here is what Walbro had to say. Looks like the height of the bucket, or lack there of, is what makes our fuel systems hard to modify.

1. Yes the F90000285 pump can be used in a PWM system.
2. We have not researched the fitment of this pump into that factory bucket system. Therefore I cannot confirm that our pump will retrofit into the factory setup without issue.
3. We are in development of a new dual pump bucket system that will hopefully reduce our overall module height. The short module height is the #1 reason we have not been able to come up with an aftermarket solution for the Camaro to date.

If that pump does indeed run hot, I wonder if you modified the settings in the FPCM to slow it down a bit at normal driving conditions. Leave it turned up at WOT.

Does anyone have measurements on the stock or ZL1 fuel pumps? Wondering if it will physically fit the bucket.

My friend has the agp dual pump kit with the upgraded 525 pumps (hellcat pumps), and they draw more amps than the regular 450s. We had to upgrade his breakers and wiring. They need 30amp breakers and 10awg wire or better. Preferrably grounded to battery.

Not sure the stock harness and fpcm would work.

Stock FPCM can't control the pumps as wired into the basket/system. Voltage, Current Draw, and non sufficient wiring will not be a solution to safely run these pumps in the first place. Secondly there is a reasons (for which I'm not going to discuss) why the car has been on the market now for 12 years and that solution simply is not the answer. If you do not have the money to do it right, stop while your ahead. Will cost you a lot more in the long run trying to fix the mistake. Fuel is not something you want to skimp out on.

I am also curious about physical fitment of the 525 and if the siphon jet would draw fuel properly. There is a post on this site that says something about a work around for the electrical side of this.

I have a used ZL1 pump and a brand new aftermarket CTSV pump if you want to make an offer and try it yourself.

The pump on the ZL1 bucket I just got is not quite 44mm and the lower housing on the Hellcat pump is 50mm. Also the height of the Hellcat pump is 131mm and the ZL1 is only 115ish, so you would have to modify the bucket.

The power plug and wiring could be modified with some pieces from a place like Mouser.
