TSP VVT 2.2 with stock converter

I've seen YouTube videos of people with the 2.2 claiming they do not experience any issues with drivability with it. Any of you have experience? Do you regret not going with the 3.2 or 4.2? I'm thinking of getting the 2.2 with stock and future purchase of stall. Im not sure if I want to do the 3.2 for another 15 horse and have to spend another grand for the converter.

Lots of tech will pull the engine to do the swap on the l99. It is much easier and comfortable to work on the engine that way. Plus the torque converter will be exposed once the engine is pulled. The torque converter, installation and cooler cost me about 1000. It was worth it. Good luck

I'm doing the work myself and will not pull the motor.

I’m curious as to what people have to say about this. I was told for optimized track times you should get a different stall, but for normal driving you should be fine. I’ve been considering either this cam or BTR Stage 3, non VVT cam.

The only issue with sticking with the stock converter is that when you're stopped at a light the car might feel like it wants to push you forward even with your foot on the brake. And upgrading the converter gets you into the rpms faster.

So, Bo White says:

stall before gears
stall before cam

Take that for what you will!

One thing i would challenge you to look at is dyno runs from before and after a converter. Doing that makes it easy to see why you should get one!

I installed 3200 stall and 3.91 gear at the same time last spring. It really woke car up. I installed TSP vvt 3.2 cam and LT headers this winter, she runs really good now.

Does it actually greatly increase the torque value or just shift the tq. window?

If I go with a stall that limits me to just the drag strip. I would like to read course as well.

I say drive a fiends car with a cam converter and see if you like it.

vvt 3.2 idle

Spun on street tires, so had to let up. Car is short shifting at 6k rpm's so got to raise it in the tune. 3200-3400 circle d
