That would be funny if the interior of my 2005 Cobalt SS/SC wasn't to far off from my Camaro's.

The ZL1 IS close to the C6 lol, just not the Z06 or ZR1.
Of course the mustang can be built in the aftermarket to handle well, it's been done countless times. But from the factory, the 1LE and ZL1 are MUCH better handling than any of the new mustangs. Point blank end of story.

Don't most road courses have straights on them? If I remember correctly the GT500 was faster than the ZL1 untill the brakes started giving out (M/T, R/T, Car&Driver), don't remember which. Now what would be cheaper: upgraded brakes or engine durability upgrades? Both the Boss and the GT500 have superior internals in their engines and better cooling systems when compared to the 1LE and ZL1.

That is true.
The ZL1 straight up posted a faster time around VIR though. Also the 'Ring. Longer tracks, Shelby's brakes give out, ZL1 goes faster.
The GT500 could be a track beast with brake and wheel upgrades, but we're comparing stock to stock. Aftermarket is anyone's game

actually 1LE will run a track faster than a c6........ and zl1 is a hair faster than 1le.

The ZL1 internals can handle more power than would ever be practical on a road course

But the fact remains both the Boss and GT500 have more durability upgrades in their engines than the 2 Camaros do. Don't you think Chevy would boost their engines to a higher level if long term durability were not important. 50,000 mile drive train warranty = big deal.

because ford needs mods to make their engines durable. while you can beat the ever living piss out of ANY LS and it will "just keep swimmin"

It's true that the LSA does not have forged pistons. And the 1LE just has a plain Jane LS3 (and still beats the overpowered boss). But the LS9...

the 1LE beats the gt500 on a course as well and is $20k less and n/a..........

not even counting the gt500's "equal" the Zl1 which is even faster.

but brings up a point that always bothers me, is that mustang owners compare the Boss 302 to a 1LE. when a 1LE is nothing but the equivilant of a GT Premium/Track Pack. but it would be too embarrasing i guess to compare the numbers of a 1LE to that of a GT with a track pack.
