Stuck clutch pedal

Car has been making whining noises the past couple of days and just now the clutch pedal crashed at a red light and won’t come back up. Any ideas on what’s wrong???? Could it be the slave or master cylinder?

Because it was whining for a while, I'd suspect the throw out bearing. It comes with a new slave cylinder.
Depending on the miles and how you drive the car, inspect the pressure plate, clutch disk and flywheel for wear and heat damage. Something else to consider while you have it apart, a billet bearing support for the slave cylinder.
2 places to get one, they also sell the slaves. I would suggest that you tear it apart and inspect before ordering parts that you may not need.

EDIT: check the pilot bearing too, they're cheap and once you have everything else apart quite easy to get to. You will need a proper puller to get it out though. It's called a blind hole bearing puller.

Slave cylinder bearing support. Buy a new slave cylinder, it'll come with the throw out bearing.

If you want there are companies that make a replacement support piece from aluminum

100% replace the OE plastic throw out bearing support with a billet aftermarket piece. If you melted one, you'll melt another one. While the trans is out, definitely put a remote speed bleeder in, worth every penny when it comes time to bleed the clutch.
