Possible electrical issue
At a cold start while the engine is idling my MPH will begin to jump or surge from 0 to almost 20 mph... also the doors will lock. My car has never auto locked before no matter how long I leave the car running. Any idea as to what is wrong and or what I should check? Never had to deal with an issue like this before and not sure where to start.

A lot of times electrical gremlins are a sign of a failing battery.

If you are idling with the car in park and the gauge is jumping from 0 to 20 MPH and the doors are auto locking, you definitely have an electrical gremlin somewhere. The first thing I would do and hope it is, is have the battery checked. If it's not the battery, electrical issues like what you describe can be difficult to track down.

The door is probably locking cause its sensing 20 mph forward movement.

I have had electrical issues in this car that automatically locked and unlocked the doors. But is also affected other systems related to the doors, like windows not working intermittently, and loss of door speakers and mirror control. This was all due to a damaged ground. Your issue does not seem like mine. Any other issues or strange occurrences? Stabilitrak errors or codes thrown? I would think any speeds sensors misreporting would also trigger other errors. Also, as said above, do not discount the possibility of battery issues. These cars can act possessed when the battery starts to go.

I'm starting to have issues with my car as well. While driving down the freeway at 75-80 mph, the speedo will indicate 3 mph. While at a stop, the idle will stay up at 1100-1200 rpm. I'm going to have the battery checked, it is original and over 7 years old.

After doing some research it seems only the manuals have a dedicated externally accessible speed sensor at the rear of the transmission. The automatics have speed measured via the TCM.

I would replace the battery if original immediately.
Me a couple months back... Low miles car sitting in my shop. Went to start it after 3 weeks, click-click. Then demonic possession took hold. Windows, wipers and radio going up-down on-off randomly. Worst was the key locked into the ignition which would would have really ticked me off if i'd of been in a parking lot somewhere with no way to secure my baby. Just FYI.
