My new *ahem* old car ...

Been looking around for a while and now have come to this, I won the auction and placed the deposit just looking to see if anyone sees anything wrong with it that I may of missed. My mechanic and friend is coming with me to get it and trail it home. So let me know now.

Is this the replacement for the SS you got screwed out of or did that ever get figured out?

I'd like to see all the "numbers" on the car. At minimum, I would want to see pics of the engine assembly stamp and partial VIN on the block, assembly stamp and partial VIN on the tranny, assembly stamp on the 12 bolt, better picture of the trim tag, picture of the partial VIN on the firewall and a close picture of the Protect-o-plate. I usually run from cars that have been completely undercoated underneath. I can put you in touch with a 2nd gen guru if you want.

Merf this one is more about not having a second gen lol. It needs to join its brothers in the "working car garage" because I feel mad about the 2 unworking engineless 1st gens that I pretty much gave up on (67 & 68).

Your friend will be fine to verify the mechanicals (and perhaps bodywork) but my main concern would be the validity to the claim that the car a true "SS" 4-speed Camaro with it's original drivetrain.

PM me your email addy and I'll get you in touch with someone.

Very nice car, you don't see too many 2nd gen SS cars. Looks like there is some documentation to support the car. Congrats on your new car

Hylton nailed it.

Body gaps seem irregular. ALL the paint is new including the under coat and splatter paint in the trunk. Is that rust at the base of the shifter? And primer on the pedals?

ALL their feed back is more than 90 days.

One more thing - since docs and trim tags can be accurately duplicated, you must ask the seller about all the previous owners. Call the previous owners and ask them what state the car was in before they sold it. Everyones story should match. If the seller is not co-operative with this, I would move on.

That rear three piece spoiler was not available on a 1970 Camaro, there was only a low one piece spoiler available for that year.

Actually it was available under the COPO ordering program.

COPO says it all. If that spoiler is original to that car does it make it a real find?

That's debatable. Taxi cabs were also ordered throiugh the COPO process so personally I don't think it means anything. Now I own a '70 Z/28 with a shorty so I may be biased. Certainly, the name in itself is no reason to think a COPO spoiler makes the car worth more. 90% sure that spoiler was not installed at the factory since very few 1970 SS Camaros came with the tall spoiler.
