As long as people pay it, it will never stop. If you were selling something on ebay and some guy really wanted it and bid higher than everybody else. You'd sell it to them. You know you would.

P.T Barnum's quote still holds true!

It will end when people stop paying it. Have you seen the number of suckers bidding over MSRP on E Bay. And GM wont do anything. The dealer here with the biggest mark ups is a Hendrick dealer. One of Chevys supposedly good groups....yeah right.

I wonder if you had a Babe Ruth baseball card, if you would sell it for what the cost was when those cards were released? If it's above MSRP, just don't buy it... but I never got why a company out to make money is such a bad thing?
These cars were pre-sold to people often with purchase agreements in writing. When the car comes in the dealer wants more for it. That's crazy and illegal. Most people just don't want to go through the legal process to enforce the contract. Now if the dealer ordered a car for his own stock not pre-sold, I agee they have the right to try and sell it for whatever they can get. The Babe Ruth Card is decades old. We are not asking a dealer to sell us a brand new '69 Camaro for 2850.00

I believe this will calm down by late fall or next spring.

I agree that cars that were negotiated with for MSRP in writing, having the prices jacked is probably illegal, and downright wrong.

However, if you plan to go in to a dealer, slap down a 1K deposit and come flame the dealer because he wants 5K over for the car, I disagree with that. Every business deals with supply and demand. It's the trademark of a capitalistic society that we live in.

Bottom line: If people didn't pay the outrageous markups that they do, the price wouldn't be inflated.
