Dealing with the snow......

Does anybody know how this car is gonna be able to handle the snow? I have to deal with it 3 months out of the year and this car would be my DD. I was going to go with a 2ss or gt500(only because i could get a really good deal on one right now where it would cost almost as much as a 2ss) Since moving up to Idaho I have always had my AWD SUV and from AZ so snow was never something to deal with.

fbodfather & HeatherR said they did great in the michigan snow. granted 'father's has some pirelli snows all around and HeatherR had them on the back, but you don't need to be driving a high power RWD car in the snow with performance tires anyway.

I agree, throw some snow tires on it, and take it slow

No matter how well your car performs in the winter, you never know who might come and rear end you. I was set on driving my car in the winter as well, but after noting how people here stop late and hard even in the worst conditions definitly made me want to get a beater for the winter. I know we will be able to control these car very well, but others outthere wont be as careful as us

I agree with the rest of the posts. As long as you have really good all-season or ice/snow tires equipped for winter driving you'll be just fine. With my '00 Camaro SS and '01 vette I always had better luck with the traction control off when I would go from a dead stop....but maybe that's just me. It's only really annoying once the snow has started melting and gets to be thick slush then it takes a bit longer to get going at those stop lights/signs.

other people rear-ending you don't have a lot to do with your tires, unless it's because you don't slide ahead like the reterd behind you is counting on!

I live in MI and I'm getting a 2SS/RS as a DD. I'm wondering about the snow tires... I obviously plan to take it slow in the snow/slush, but do you think snow tires would still be required? In this state, our weather is so back-and-forth that you never know when winter is going to begin/end. And when you think it's over, it's back again. So I guess I'm saying I'd rather not have to worry about switching out the tires... just wondering how they would be in the snow, though I've heard they're summer tires. I don't know too much about this stuff :(

Also if you get them switched at a dealer or something, do they just give you the old ones back? Seems like it would be a waste, otherwise... since I know the tires would still be good. I'm just not sure what I'd do with 4 big tires when I'm not using them, as I live in an apartment...
