OBX Headers + Exhaust Questions

I have heard great things about the OBX headers, but I have a few ?'s. Hopefully, you guys have the answers.

I currently have MRT v2 welded on my 2011 2LT/RS stock exhaust. I want to get the OBX LT Headers and some High Flow cats while deleting the resonators and keeping the MRT V2. Will I need extra piping because i am taking out the resonators? Can I clamp that system together and weld later? Do you need o2 extensions or will the stock ones fit? Do I even need high flow cats or will the stock cats work just fine?

Sorry for all the ?'s. Very new to the MOD world. Any help is appreciated.

If i am not mistaken, its a cat delete. I had them and then sold becuase it may have been difficult to pass inspections. You may be able to find an adaptor for another HFC but I have not seen anyone try yet

It is a cat delete so you would have to buy the HFC seperately. I would add it up as you might find that it may be about the same price as the BBK LT's which come with high flow cats. If that is the case I would just get the BBK as it is already designed that way.

No emissions for me so a cat delete isnt a big deal except i heard it smells rich.

I found a universal hi flow cat 2.5" for $55 each on EBay. Would those work?

The smell isn't too bad, but on a nice day with the windows down you may get a whiff at a light. Kinda smells like a lawnmower.

Those cats would probably work, but I am not an expert at all. I would also make sure performance wise it holds up to some of the big name brands.

Just so I make sure I understand.

I can take the OBX headers and they will delete the cats and attach after the cats before the resonaters correct?

Now, if i want to delete the resonaters, then I would need a straight pipe?

Also, where would the o2 sensor connect with no cats?

Thanks again!

There are still bungs for all 4 of your factory o2's on the OBX LT.

You do know you will get CEL for the rears right?

you will need o2 sensors extensions.

If you are going to remove the resonators you will have to have your mechanic fabricate a pipe or maybe get a mid pipe. some people say if you going with the mid pipe try to get 2.5" as it will sound better. oh and if you remove the resonators it will be way too loud unless you like very loud exhaust you can always go for an x resonated pipe which will help with the loud sound.

I just bought OBX headers and got all this information from bmorecam. thanks to him..

I suggest you research more before buying. you will need a tune to get the CEL light off.

Yeah I will get a tune right after from Trifecta.

Ok. I think i will leave the resonators. Then will the OBX LTs just clamp on where i cut the cats off?

you sound like you know your stuff lol.

Our LLT in design has the tendency to produce very nasty rasp at mid rpm when replacing your headers. I can almost bet half of you guy are going to end up installing the resonated x-pipe unless you like that obnoxious, droning and raspy sound. I know of 3 exhaust system that don't require anything else and was designed to cancel out the bad frequency from the beginning. I believe that's corsa, solo, and ark. MRT v2 seem to bring different opinions when mated to a long tube. It seems the V2 is more manageable to some.
