Secure full size spare tire in trunk

I use a $3.00 31" strap from NAPA. works perfect attached to the U hook on the rt rear body panel.
Still room for one full bag and misc items.
Tire not strapped down in this photo.
This plus AAA and I'm all set on trips.

Thanks for the photo, why the front tire and not the rear....isn't more important to have the correct size for the rear?

They are the same diameter but the front is not as wide so it fits better.


As far as people wanting the same diameter for the rear, what you are supposed to do when you get a flat in the rear is put the shorter donut up front and put the good front wheel out back.

Don't forget some of us run the same size tire on all four corners, just the wheel itself is different width. For example the 1LE.

Width doesn't really matter just the diameter.

Or, alternatively...
Will a 245-50 19" fit in it ?

I travel at the drop of a hat...Texas to Wisconsin is not unheard of. Full size spare on a Sunday travel evening in Timbuktu is handy to have when you get a flat. 300 miles to go on a donut spare is NOT pretty, and MOST highway roadside repair places do NOT stock Camaro/Mustang/U name it ...size tires.
Even in town, you can wait 2 days for a shop to get your size/specification in...Better to have it on a wheel and on hand.

With out modification nothing besides the doughnut spare will fit.

i did the same thing in my G35 coupe before I had the camaro, and it was actually perfect because I was able to get the full same exact size in there as I was running on the car
