Would you MOD ZL1?
The best thing about ZL1 is a Supercharged car with perfect manners, braking system, Cooling system, Suspension of $100+ car, upgraded drivetrain, awesome sounding exhaust and a nice set of tires to put it down... And above all, you can have them all with factory Warranty and peace of mind that the dealer will not bust your balls.
But having said that, would you buy a ZL1 and MOD it? If yes, what...? Thanks! Last edited by radz28; 02-12-2011 at 02:44 PM. Reason: "breaking" SP |

I'm inclined to do minor cosmetic mods that are easily reversible. I might change out the wheels in the future, but will keep the stock ones if I do.
The main mod that has me struggling to figure out what I'm going to do is lowering the vehicle. I can't stand wheel well gap and the stock ZL1 height has too much of it IMO. The aggressive look of this vehicle combined with a lower stance would look amazing. However, I'm very concerned about messing up the fantastically engineered MSRC system, a system that has tons of functionality for my intended use. I can leave it stock height, but truthfully I will never be really happy with that. I was originally planning to go with coilovers before the MSRC was announced, but now feel like an idiot for possibly removing this great system that's a main feature of this car. I guess I have a lot of time to struggle figuring this out. |

I took a ride on the new Z06 with MR and you want to keep it AS IS. Just my two cents! |

The thing is, I know you are right and it's killing me. My brain says leave it alone but my impulses say different :( I wish Chevy engineered this system with a lower stock vehicle height, but I know I clamoring for that would be a waste of time (see fbodfather's favorite website: notgonnahappen.com). |

Outside of making the bowties body-colored, I think I'd leave it alone. Maybe tint also. I shouldn't need to mod it based on what I've seen and heard.
Wheels would be a consideration if it doesn't screw with the MR suspension. I like the wheels on the Z06 better. Edit: I forgot about the Heritage grill. That would be it. |

The car is 99% perfect for me. The only things I would change would be the egg crate grill and the chrome trim around the tail lights. Maybe switch the tail lights to the sequential LED lights.

I can't see doing any serious mods. Maybe like a pulley and a cold air intake, but nothing serious/permanent and also easily reversible.
As far as ride height goes, I am willing to bet the car lowers itself when its in sport mode or something. There are different settings. |
