Crankshaft position sensor location.....

On an L99?

I threw the code and tha car barely started. Been a miss at idle for a long time and been dying intermitently for a while. All symptoms of a bad sensor.

Anyone know where the sensor is on the L99?

Yo PQ. I had the same code and the same crappy running engine. Have you had a weak battery lately or a dead battery? Also, there is an issue with a grounding wire on the back of one of the heads that was throwing the CPS code on my car for some reason. Dealership fixed it under warranty and loomed the cable etc. I'll find out exactly what it is that happened to me. I thought my engine was TOAST then the CPS code then VOILA! fixed.

I thought about the battery too. My sons Jeep had similar problems and it was dead battery. PLENTY of juice but still bad. (not sure how that's possible but it is)

Ya, I'd love to hear any ideas.

I had to replace the battery out of mine this past fall. Runs great now.

L99 and LS3, the Crank Sensor is located in the right (passenger) side of the the engine block, behind the starter. The Cam Sensor is in the front timing cover.

My sons Jeep did a similar thing. Not sure how a battery can be bad yet fully charged all the time. But it can. I'll check.

With my Maggie cooler reservoir and hoses back there it's a pain to get to. Got any idea where some pictures are? lol

My 5th gen has the same symptoms.

I think I narrowed it down to the grounding but can't find the damn wire!

Oh wow!!!
Negative it's on top of the starter, all Ls cranks have the reluctor wheel at the end of the crank.

Check all your grounds. That's what it's gonna be bud. I betcha.

Hard to get to for me. I installed the intercooler reservoir for the blower rigth back there. Hoses and shit are in the way on top of the headers and brake lines.

I hope you're right.

My tachometer went to zero the day this happened. Hasn't happened since though.
